Which game will be Coutts

He had one decent season but wasn't the game changer that he was made out to be.

One and half seasons where he controlled our movement forward with metromic passing. Like Norwoood he always shows for the ball and passes very accurately, rearely giving the ball away.

He doesn't have the range of passing that ON has nor is his tackling quite as good but his reading of the game and ability to make interceptions is excellent.

I don't see how they can both play in the same team as they both need to play the same role in front of the back 3. The idiot Adkins proved conclusively that you can't play Coutts as a wide midfielder.

You see the exact same things we all do, fella. We all know that he has quality and he can play with the ball when given the chance. The evidence at the moment shows that he just isn’t mobile enough for this level of football and time isn’t on his side. If Wilder has already made his decision then it’s a brave one but one that is entirely understandable.

I know you’ve not given up on him yet (like that actually means anything) but my question was, how long should we persevere with him? All of next season? The season after that?

Everyone would love to see him back to his best but we can’t wait forever.
Can't we even spare him a full pre-season starting from a much better place than last one?
At least he will be able to start in approximately the same place as the rest this time :)

At the minute his involvement reminds me of Evans last season. Occasional words from Wilder in interviews that he’s been “impressing” and “working hard” in training, with what we then see with our own eyes being very far from not only what we’d come to expect of them but on a basic level what is the minimum requirement for our starting XI.

I would give him the opportunity of pre-season, where he’ll be building up fitness at the same starting point as the rest of the squad, before we make any decision on him. He might feel he warrants more immediate security than that, which is understandable.

He has another 2 years on his contract apparently

Interesting. As in you’ve heard he’s been offered a new one? The existing one as reported expires in the summer. I’d be surprised if at this stage we’d offered a two-year deal.

Hopefully you are right and his contract is nearly up.

Your desperation to be right about this is understandable, we all want him to get back to his best. However, the evidence so far suggests that he is nowhere near that level. I’m just wondering how long you feel we should persevere with him for? At some point Wilder will have a decision to make

Desperation to be right? What about the person who dug up a 7 month old dormant thread just so they could have a go at one of our players?

Let him get a full pre season under his belt. Reckon he'll be integral part of the squad next year regardless of which division we're in.

Who was that?

He signed a two year deal 2 years ago (same as Sharp). We’ve extended Sharp’s – we haven’t, publicly at least, done anything on Coutts’s future.
