who would you rather play in the semi final out of Bristol City, derby and Middlesbrough?looks more likely Bristol tbh and who would you play in the final at Wembley out of villa and West Brom?

Play offs don’t go there. Remember that season finished third...Millennium Stadium...like I said Don’t Go There!!

Can we choose who we play? I thought we'd just end up playing whoever finishes in 6th place. Must be a rule change.

One good thing to come out of yesterday is that we have four matches to prepare for the playoffs and get our heads round missing the autos. Imagine if we missed out on the last day, it would be impossible to pick ourselves up.

We're capable of beating all of them and capable of losing to them all so it doesn't really matter tbh. Form and momentum mean just as much as anything and that's what we don't seem to have at the moment. Add to that the injuries and it's all getting that familar look to it.........

Even Tufty sounded a bit defeated last night, albeit very soon after the final whistle.

Not strictly true, while ever the gap remains three points, we could still technically miss out on the last day. I do think this season has a few twists still in it but I don’t necessarily think it’ll work out well for us.

Can see us bouncing back against Forest & Leeds maybe drawing with Wigan, then we are back in the mindset of “we can do it” but then can see us being unable to better Leeds results and then miss out on last day as they batter Ipswich and we huff & puff at Stoke.

Why kid yourself ? We all know it's autos or nothing. Not because of our 7 playoff failures. This is a different manager & team. But the way we're playing coupled with the form of the other 3 means we won't get past the Semi. And odd though it may seem , I have not given up on the auto spot.

Now that would be an interesting change to the playoffs, allow third place to choose who they play. Didn’t rugby league do that at one stage or have a dreamt that?

Can't we just worry about beating Forest first?

Let’s not forget that Leeds have to play Brentford away, who are strong at home, as well as Villa who are flying.

There’s still a good chance they’ll drop points, it’s more now that we simply have to get the maximum return from our remaining games.

Do that and miss out, we’ll still be going into the playoffs in good form.

Any of those in the semis. We are 14-16 points in front of them. Time for everybody to grow a pair on and off the pitch.

How do these things even get legs? "Oooohhhh, we've lost before in the Play Offs ..." This season is still very much in our hands. Four defeats & three draws & we can be promoted on Penalities. I love this club. And I love watching games. That's what I signed up for. Let's get at it.....

According to the doom and gloom merchants it would have to be Beighton Magpies under 6's for us to have any chance of playing at Wembley.

And Wigan, who they ‘should’ beat, but are currently fighting to stay in the division. How many times do we see teams slip up against opposition who they ‘should’ beat? If it was us against Wigan there would be plenty on here predicting a defeat.

Be just United's luck to finish 7th!!

I keep reading about Brentford being their potential nemesis, but I'd rather be playing them than a side still chasing an outside shot at playoffs managed by an object of much ridicule who will need no motivation to trip us up.

Leeds will beat Wigan without breaking sweat Wigan are poor. I can only see Leeds dropping any points against possibly Villa.
With an outside chance of Brentford( Depends which Brentford turn up).We will need to win all 4 games left to stand anychance i just can't see it.
Its the play offs I'm afraid and i can't see us beating any off Bristol City, Villa or West Brom, Middlesbrough maybe. Its Championship football next season I'm afraid.

That’s a very glass half empty way of looking at things.

Personally, I can’t see Leeds losing against Wigan either but like I said, how many times have we seen teams who are expected to win come unstuck. There will have been plenty of Leeds fans saying yesterday “I can’t see Sheffield United dropping any points against Millwall” (had we won yesterday Millwall would still be on the same points as Wigan).

Interesting, but not unsurprising, that you can’t see us beating any of teams below us in the playoffs, considering we’ve proven to be much better than all of them so far this season

One of the worrying things is that we've gone ahead in the last 4 games and only come out with 5 points.

The other thing that worries me is having to target four wins to chase auto and then needing to win a further two if we fall short.

We can't give up on auto but getting up from third seems more difficult than say 4th or 5th as they are not chasing 2nd.

We're capable of beating all of them and capable of losing to them all

And if this were true (which it pretty much is) would therefore

a) give credibility to the play-off system in the Championship, and
b) justify us taking part in them.

We've taken a mighty 7 points from a possible 18 against the teams currently sitting in the play off positions. I'm hoping Derby don't fade away and sneak into 6th.

If it is the play-offs I'm hoping we can end our jinx in them in the manner that Preston ended theirs in 2015. They finished 3rd 10 points above Swindon which could have taken the wind right out of their sails, but they smashed it. 4-0 in the semis and 4-0 in the final.

Can't see the point in getting depressed yet so my glass is half full.

There's no point getting depressed at any point as it's not like we can do anything about it. We can only watch, support the team and see what happens. I'll be disappointed if we don't go up this season but life will still go on.

I'll be a bit more than disappointed if we don't go up.
