No, it's not 100%. But your thread is based on supposition and guesswork, so thought I'd get into the spirit of things.

That’s what Wilder said. He also said he had full control over the outgoings so if you have an issue with how much Brooks was sold for I suggest you direct your anger that way.

My left nut has contributed more than Woodburn did, and as for Dowell then yes he probably would have. But Brooks was sold to strengthen the spine, which has made us a significantly better team. We might just have run out of steam but we have lasted the course much longer than last season.

May as well bang on about selling Adams too.

In your opinion - based on a nutmeg at The Sty, a decent finish from a good put through at Leeds and a shanked goal at Millwall, plus some promising touches.

An argument which would have carried more weight if..

1. He Had not missed half last season getting over Glandular fervour.

2. He Had not impressed hugely in The Premier League this season.

I don't care a toss about David Brooks anymore but John Egan and Oliver Norwood for about £6 million is the absolute very minimum that a well supported Championship club should have spent, without Brooks leaving
 
Why don't we wait until the end of the season to decide. We are 3 points off second and worse case scenario in the playoffs.
 
Norwich also sold their young English talent and they're alright. They got shafted more than us too.

Also have you seen Bournemouth's record, let's be reyt, they're cack, if it wasn't for that purple patch they had earlier in the season they'd be neck deep in the shit with Cardiff, Burnley, Southampton etc, which is appalling considering their budget, so Brooks is hardly the "Welsh(English) Messi” game changer some on here have decided he is.

We were shit today and mostly shit against Birmingham, the actual Messi wouldn't have helped today, we'd have ignored him and passed it to Duffy in the middle who'd pass it to the opposition after 4 minutes of deliberation.

Brooks was good but inconsistent, and we've replaced him with consistent performers. We're better this year by a fair bit and probably wouldn't be if we'd kept Brooks.

Imagine the team if we'd kept him.

Stearman/ Wright/ fighting it out at CB, Lundstram and recovering Coutts in the middle, Evans passing it back to the GK at every opportunity.

Although I understand that scenario would have been beyond the imaginations of anybody at Sheffield United.

Yeah probably and if I'd won the Euromillmills I'd have bought the prince out and rebuilt the Kop.

We have unambitious owners currently trying to out-unambition each other, it's shit but if the scenario is you have to sell to bring players worth having in, I'm glad he went.
 
Brooks wanted to leave. Of course he did.

He said so in October 2017 when he signed a long term contract with United. I clearly remember him saying, "Yeah, chuffed to bits to sign for the Blades, but don't get too fucking comfy, because this piece of paper means fuck all when I say I want to leave. Probably next July."

He was involved in most of Bournemouth's goals today, and scored one.

Some people are only just now realising that our squad is too week, and without Billy we have no (zilch) strickers at the club. But we do have Dowell, Hogan, Johnson and Norwood :(
 
The better Utd do, the more used people become to them doing well and, unfortunately, the more Weds-esque supporters amongst us come out of the woodwork who not only expect success but demand it.

Raising negatives from previous seasons e.g. as done by the OP typifies this. Yes, of course Brooks is doing very well and has increased in value since he joined Bournemouth but the criticise the club for realising the fee they did is simply ridiculous when you consider Bournemouth were the only serious bidders and the proceeds helped stregthen the side in numerous areas, most notably in central defence by bringing in Egan.
 
Rather than condemning the club for selling Brooks, we should be celebrating the fact that they had the foresight to sign him in the first place.

Any of 91 league clubs could have thrown him a lifeline after he was released by Man City. In my opinion, Sheffield United deserve huge praise, for being the ones that did. :)

Him signing that and his inevitable, first-offer sale because he'd signed it was one of many crass, silly and cynical decisions made by the club. Especially the collective jizzing into the same hanky seen on here when he signed. If anyone couldn't see that, and the 'glandular fever' episode wasn't possibly geared toward his eventual exit if we weren't promoted then they possibly believe owt shoved out by the club.

Brooks would have made a difference this season. Duffy is a sixty minuter at the most and Dowell is Emperor's New Clothes stuff.

Yeah he would. There's lots of players currently playing in the prem who would too. Slight fly in the ointment is affording them.
