Play off place virtually guaranteed

After last night results we are now virtually guaranteed a play off place. Derby can equal us on points but they would have to make up a 25 goal deficit.
That's the way to approach a season. Avoid relegation. Guarantee play-offs. Guarantee promotion. Guarantee winning the league. It happened 2 years ago. The final step will be a little harder to take.

Obviously if we don’t make autos it will be hard not to feel deflated but if we did end up in the Playoffs why can’t we change our bad history in them we now have someone we didn’t have before and that’s Mr Wilder
All the teams who are likely in the playoffs ,Bristol ,Villa and Wba I reckon or even FLDC all concede plenty of gaols and are quite attacking open teams. We are capable of beating any of them.

I stand by what I said at the start of this season, which is that if we got in the play-offs, it would be a fantastic achievement.

For me anything beyond that is a huge bonus and I will look back on this season with immense pride regardless of how it pans out now.

I would love to know the last team with our budget that did as well as we have this season
My only concern is if we don't go up some of the premier League teams come looking for CW

Realistically, if we’d finished 7th or 8th I’d be saying CW has done a great job. To get us to the playoffs is why his peers voted him manager of the season.

I said at the beginning of the season that we’d be in the mix for the play offs. In my heart I thought we’d be in a scrap for 6th and maybe fall a bit short.

When we beat Derby on Boxing Day I really started to believe and had a sneaky look to see if I could see a path to us getting ~75 points. I thought it looked hard but doable.

Now? It’s been an incredible season, but let’s be right: it will be gutting if we don’t go up.

Quite so. Of course if we miss out on automatic I'll be disappointed and if we find a new way to fuck it up in the play offs, I'll be very disappointed, but overall I'll still be delighted with the progress we've made.

It's all about expectation isn't it. We've done really well and there have been some superb performances along the way. We've earned the right to be where we are and naturally that raises expectations.

All this start of the season stuff is bollocks.

At the start of the season I thought we'd finish about 10th, same as last season.

But It's not the start of the season anymore. We're now challenging for automatic promotion.

If we finish 3rd I'll be absolutely gutted.

If we finish third I'll be gutted as well, because we won't go up through the play offs.
Not losing will become more important than winning, although what we'd hope to achieve by finishing second in a two horse race would be I don't know.

And before anybody says this team and manager are different, they're not, we've already seen it in a few games over the last month or so, when the pressure has been on they've completely changed their normal game.
