I'm not getting this. McCabe says £3m but you say he's wrong.
Have you had access to the contract with Man City? You seem to be aware that there will be an extra payment if we were to go up - what is this payment?

It goes to 3 million if we get promoted and he either scores 40 goals for the club or plays 40 games (i'm not sure which one). They are the clauses.

Can you go back and have a look at the clauses and tell us which it is?

No I can't but those were the ones released to FH by the club and I also believe mentioned in a interview with McCade.

Can you back that they aren't correct?

It was widely reported at the time, and since, that we paid an initial fee (upper and lower estimates of 1.5M and 750K) and there were further clauses that would take this up to a maximum of £3M. McCabe quotes the £3M becuase that's what he could cost us and what his potential value is (and it suits him to use that figure of course ;))

It doesn't take a huge leap of faith to assume that one of these clauses was based on promotion.

Len, arguing for the sake of it, surely not

The other one won one of the penalties and actually setup the guy who bagged two with an open net in the first half.

That was a surreal moment. Super cross from Evans, Hendo rose above Moore, keeper nowhere, ball right in front of the goal and right on his head...and he completely missed it.

He did take 2 good pens, credit where it's due. Though as any apologist for the Beattie sale will tell you, they actually don't count when you work out how many goals he's scored.

On Evans, Len makes a fair point. When someone at the club wants to say we're spending money it's 3m but when Radio Sheffield or someone on here wants to say we haven't wasted so much money on him it's considerably less than 3m. Would be good to find the definitive answer.

So how much have we paid?
How much is based on appearances?
How much is for goals?
How much is for promotion?

Weren't some for internatuional appearances and goals?

I've never seen anything released to substantiate your claim.

I haven't seen anything in hard black and white robbie either I'm just going on what has been released by the club previously and at the time as Jim said it was supposed to be in the region of 1.5million up front since the intial reports that seems to have dropped.

Should be easy to find then. Do you have some links?

The official announcement I came across on the official website on July 24 says a £3m fee.

No I don't I heard the most aired on the radio. I already stated I didn't have anything other than what I heard. Sorry if I haven't but its be banded around on a few occasions now.

Yes that was what was posted orginally, but they have since turned round a released press statements saying that figure was incorrect.

Henderson has been our best player this season so far in my opinion.

Can't wait to see him in a side that doesn't make him play as a workhorse for 90 minutes.

Really? The figure is reiterated by McCabe on October 29 on the official website - adding that Evans is one of the highest paid players in the league.
Total investment is therefore significantly beyond £3m - probably around £5m.

Evans cannot be judged (in my opinion of course) until he's played in style that suits him.

Is this the right room for an arguement?

Saying he is highest played is very much different from saying he cost 3 million up front??

McCabe said we paid £3m for him in the summer.
He specifically added he was one of the highest paid players, outside the relegated teams.
I would think that puts him in the region of £20,000 to £25,000 a week. If he's on a three-year contract we have committed comfortably in excess of £5m to his signing, probably nearer £6m.

In the summer he said it, I agree but if the club has since released things then saying we have only paid said amount for the player initially with the fee rising to 3 million, then its different from what they said it is up to them to to release things to the public.

McCabe said it two weeks ago.

That's fair.

£1.5 million seems a fair price for him to be honest. He has potential just needs to be given a proper run in the side and not playing satalleiteball

What on the radio interview?

I thought he said totalling to 3 million?

It's on the website.
It's also illuminating that he thought it poignant to highlight his wages.
In reality, the investment in our development player is £5m to £6m. Pretty eye watering in terms of return.

Its alot but they seem to band different things as and when it suits them len. As revolution stated he says one thing then they release another, they get questioned about ambition he's 3mil again, then they get questioned on preformances and it turns to cheaper. In my opinion I think if we are paying 3 million outright (without the said clauses) they will have done that deal in installments over a set period of time, which allows them to make both arguements.

In other words, you have no evidence to support your argument.
On the other hand, which ever way you choose to cut it, the investment in our development player is way more than £3m.
McCabe almost certainly highlighted some of this to shut Blackwell up - quite rightly when he backed him to buy what has so far been a useless plank.

Which Is what I stated three times, that i had not seen nothing hard or in black and white and it was just heard on the radio, which they said was released by the club? But just because McCabe has said he cost 3 million doesn't mean we have paid it up front?

And I beg to differ with the useless plank statement. He's not been great I'll give you that but he hasn't been utlised right either.

Stand out comment of the thread so far. Underrated in my opinion and looks bad because the tactics we often employ leave him totally isolated and looking for scraps.

Missed 2 easy headers last night though. They were unforgivable, recon my nan would have put them in and she has been dead 4 years.

Evans on the other hand worries me deeply.

Why, are we selling him soon? Arf arf.

puppet.. you should know by now that evans will be worth the exact value of our current debt when it is time for him to leave

There are plenty on here who criticise Blackwell's post match comments but Robins showed himself to be an absolute arse. He claimed they were playing against "nearly a full strength United side" Any lighter in defence and Paul Stancliffe would have had to make a comeback.

Stan the man, an absolute legend.

"Someone get Mark Morris on standby..."
