One of few I’ve walked away from being glad with just the point! Think they hit the woodwork a couple of times.
Agree, that night Birmingham reminded me of Fleetwood, the night match when we lost 0-2.
As expected Birmingham parked the bus, we had loads of attacks but couldn’t find space and struggled to create a single chance.
With 20 minutes to go, it became clear we were never going to score as the Brum defence was so good, so i’d settled for a 0-0 draw.
However for the last 20 minutes, it’s as though Gary Monk gave his team the sign to attack.
They we’re quick on the break pushing plenty of numbers forward, we looked tired and they had us on the ropes.
They really should have scored in the last 5 minutes and it was a big relief to hear the final whistle.
The key here though is that Birmingham’s style suits them better to playing away.
They prefer to sit back, concedes possession, soak up the pressure, then get you on the break. That’s what they did both times beating Leeds home and away but I can’t see us going to St Andrews dominating the game in the same way.
It will be interesting to see if Monks gameplay is to sit deep like an away side and let us have loads of possession in their half, with the plan that they get us on the break. Brum are at home so I doubt they’ll sit back. Also Gary Madine might prove pivotal tonight.
