It’s never a good idea to do a predictor after such a turgid performance, so I won’t. I think 5 wins would do it by point/goal difference. Preston, Birmingham and Forest are the obviously tough games.

I have thought for weeks that, on paper, Leeds had a number of really quite tricky fixtures in their final 7. The variable that impacts the reality rather than the appearance 'on paper', however, is 'league table pressure' and it just feels to me that we tossed that away on Saturday.

I expect the effect to be seen on this coming Saturday, when Leeds will widen their lead and that will then feed into the midweek games where Leeds will be able to play with even more freedom, and so on. By the time Leeds play the Pigs - a game which was looking like a real tester on paper - it could be an altogether less daunting proposition sat on a 6 or 7 point cushion.

On that basis, we'd take it to the last game but it would be out of our hands and Leeds have as bolted-on a victory as they could have hoped for.

Had we dealt with Bristol City, we'd have got to the final game a point ahead and that could have been the impetus for us to go to Stoke and get the job done. What a waste.

If Leeds do have some sort of collapse and get pipped at the post, it’ll be by WBA and not us. I can see them winning at least six, if not all their remaining games and finishing on 88/91 points and pinching 2nd. Leeds finishing on 86/88, and us on 84/86.

I’ll have you a little bet now that we finish above West Brom?

They have Preston, Bristol City and Derby all fighting for the playoffs and possibly Hull depending how they go on in the next few weeks. They also play Rotherham, Millwall and Reading who are fighting for their lives, there is absolutely no chance they will win anywhere near all their remaining fixtures.

For me It’s a two horse race for second spot NC and that includes us Blades, who I think will do it.
