Life after Wilder?

I believe one of the big reasons as why we fear life without him is because the years before he arrived we have been in a low point in the clubs life (I know we've had lower) and he came in and resurrected us. That could be a reason we fear his leave one day too. I think if we can get to the premier league in his reign, even if we do come straight back down, we will have obtained a huge amount of money that if used wisely can help us become a powerful club once again. So as long as we get better every season under him, the day he decides he can't take us any further. I believe we'll be alright because by then, we will have a fantastic squad better than we have now and could easily find a manager quality enough for this club.

I'd rather sell O'Connell, Fleck and Norwood on the same day than lose Wilder.

These guys' careeers were going nowhere until CW picked them up. They would disappear into anonymity pretty soon after leaving, unless of course they rejoined Wilder at wherever he moved to.

I agree, but I do also think Wilder needs us as much as we need him.

Lets say he's hired by a premiership team for example Brighton or Southampton, would they give him the benefit of the doubt if he plays free flowing overloading attacking football but they're getting beat for the first 10 games while their players adapt?

Simply football doesn't allow that anymore.....Wilder has the full backing of our fanbase regardless of what he does because he's earned it. If he goes elsewhere that process restarts.

I'd take Paul Warne when the messiah inevitably leaves. Seems like a decent bloke and plays decent football. I think the only barrier for him is the squad at Rotherham. i think wth a better team overall, he'd be doing really well.

Bit of an eye opener for me, there's no reason for the "football" he inflicted on us last week-end. Barnet played a far better brand of football from a budget way below Rotherham.

At 27 yrs of age, Norwood had 57 Northern Ireland caps to his name and was on the payroll of a premiership side, I think it's stretching the Tufty love a little to say his career was going nowhere.

It happens to the best of us. Peter disowned Jesus three times before the cockerel crowed the next morning, and that was after he'd healed his mother in law and witnessed him do some pretty impressive stuff. So, I'm quite sure there'd be plenty that would embrace CW's replacement if we lost in the play offs and didn't get promoted.

I honestly think the job would be too big for Warne. He's doing ok at Rotherham where there isn't any expectation but the job here is a completely different beast.

Would all depend on who was available at the time but if CW walked tomorrow (not going to happen obviously) then we could do a lot worse than David Wagner. Others i would probably consider would be Lee Johnson and Paul Cook. Jokanovic would be a good shout but looks like he's off to West Brom.

Not sure about any left field suggestions but i was quite impressed with Charlton on Saturday. Not sure i'd want Bowyer here though.

If it's not with us, it'll be nowhere. Most PL clubs have a myopic view when it comes to managers - they've got to have a foreign name and had some vague 'success' on their CV. Wilder is truly a 'one-off' and what we're witnessing is a perfect storm where CW/AK get the players to 'buy into' the project - we've got a unique chemistry like Marco Silva had at Watford. Everton thought they could just poach him and it'd carry on at Everton. It doesn't work like that. It helps to have players mostly from lower leagues/smaller clubs and every time they step out at BDTBL they'll be playing in a stadium and in front of crowds that are unlikely to be replicated anywhere else in their careers. Players like Dwight Gayle, Tammy Abrahams etc. know that they can always move sideways or upwards.

Don't expect the media to suddenly realise how good CW - or most of the players - are. They've had nearly three years but still obsess about Bielsa, Farke or Lampard.



And that'll be the next challenge for all of us. Don't expect Wilder or McCabe to start chucking tens of millions around like Fulham as it's a total waste. CW will give the players who got us to the PL a fair crack, it's only right. It's the off-field stuff where a lot of problems lie. As we've seen with Sala at Cardiff, 'agents' appear out of the woodwork and all want a piece of the action. An extremely experienced manager like Warnock isn't immune from the sharks that circle at PL level or below.

I remember when Steve Bruce was going to Hull and there was a hold-up because he wanted £1m for 'image rights'. Yes, you read that right.
