Made sense with 10 men. Keep it at 1-0 for as long as possible, frustrate us, and then open up and have a go in the last 10 minutes.

Thankfully for us we finally managed to get the 2nd goal to kill the tie.

They were time wasting at 1-0 down to try and get to 85 minutes and then push for an equaliser. They will have seen our game against villa and known we would back off towards the end of the game.

They were Trying to take it to the last ten just one down and then just hit the howitzers long and hope one drops fortunately.

The second goal just killed it so they never got the chance to try it out.

Ok.

I guess I now know what Inspector Lestrade feels like when Sherlock Holmes explains how something apparently perplexing is, in fact, bloody obvious...or elementary.

They were probably on the blower in the morning saying they’d be late because the bus had broken down, their mums had put their boots somewhere and they couldn’t find them, and the dog had eaten their kit.

Great theories posted above. But they were actually still time wasting at 2-0 down.
Interesting tactics from the guy they call Warniola.

What baffles me was at their place they came at us , didn't give us any time on the ball , crowded us out and generally played a good game with directness and pace and really intense and should have won

Yet here they were slow , time wasting at every second even when 2 down and just sat everyone behind the ball like a pig bus

Just an idea but you haven't won away in god knows how long but have done ok at home , might be an idea to give their away tactics a rethink !

A lot of our fans like Rotherham, I don't hope they go down fuckin dirty twats.

To be fair, up until the sending off it was pretty even. They didn’t create anything clear cut but they had a pretty even amount of the ball and spent a fair bit of time in our half and kept us penned back with their long throws.

Unfortunately for them, their tactics disappeared down the tunnel after 28 mins.

I know they were down to ten men but without the long throw they clearly had no plan B. They’re going to have to come up with one for the next three games now though :)

I thought it was about making sure they had time to get 9 men back into their own half before the ball came back in play - trying to make us play a slow game in front of them, and then hope to hit us on a break, or (as everyone’s pointed out above) get something from ‘hit and hope’ in the last 5 to 10 minutes. Duffy’s goal wrecked that plan, and then there was nothing they could do at all, except hope to keep the score down.

They did get in our faces for a spell when the game went scrappy (which is what they wanted) after our goal. The sending off completely undermined that tactic though and we pretty much battered them second half.

Paul Warne says "goal difference could be crucial" for them.

Probably explains the time wasting if they accepted they were out of it at 0-1

Paul Warne has been looking for good role models. Decided to play the 'Norwich way'

Think he needs to know it only works if you are level or winning.
