Pigs Already So so Confident

Do we know who the ref is by any chance?
The referee is Peter bankes. He’s already dished out 100 yellow cards this season. He’s been in charge of the hull and Rotherham games for us!!.
I just hope he’s strong on Monday as he’s gonna need to be!!.
I’d take a point on Monday as the form book goes out of the window in these games!!. UTB

From pork talk

We are the best in Sheffield! We are the best in Sheffield! We have beaten United 3-1 in football!! It is completely believable! We have beaten the piggies! Sheffield, birthplace of a giant.

Sean Bean, Neil Warnock, Dave Bassett, Jessica Ennis, Chris Kamara (?), Alan Cork (??), Billy Blunt, Charlie Webster – we have beaten them all. We have beaten them all!

Chris Wilder can you hear me? Chris Wilder, I have a message for you in the middle of your promotion campaign. I have a message for you: We have sh*t on your campaign.

Chris Wilder, as they say in your language in the chicken shops on the Wicker: Your boys took a hell of a beating! Your boys took a hell of a beating!

I'm quite confident....

Hope somebody can send this to Wilder

FED UP with people thinking we can SMASH ANYONE. It's not confidence, it's fucking arrogance. Can't we just treat opponents with respect and then take the piss after the match? We're turning into Wednesday fans from before the bouncing day massacre and it's really worrying me.

Agreed and it does rather brush over the two more recent 0-0 draws at the lane.

That said their recent run of form means a game of football will take place on Monday rather than some sort of attack v defence training session.

All this pre-game posturing from both sets of fans does make me laugh! Does anyone really think that just because a load of Pigs on Pork-Talk say they are going to do us 3-0 or that some Blades may be showing "Pig Level" arrogance that it will actually have any bearing whatsoever to the game on Monday?

It's just pre-match nerves/confidence/banter/posturing/dick-waving.....whatever you want to call it and nothing more.....the result on Monday will be determined by whichever team puts the ball in the net more than the other one, not by some spotty keyboard warrior being over confident or by another thinking that if he predicts a tight, nervy draw it will actually mean the Blades will win 6-0.

Chill brethren.......what will be will be.

It’s just social media bravado.

Almost every Wednesday fans I’ve spoke to isn’t confident of winning.
However they are in much higher spirits, a few weeks ago they were worried they could be thrashed by us
But now they are confident they’ll compete and give us a good game.
They feel reasonably confident that they have a realistic chance of a draw but many still think we are the favourites.

They seem to have played well in the last two games, albeit against mid table sides whose season is pretty much already over.

But it’s only two games back when they were completely outplayed and should have been hammered at Rotherham in a game the opposition was really trying in.

For what it is worth I think it will be very close and tight, no team is going to dish out an hammering.

I think the way Stearman flew in to score against Middlesborough shows he doesn't have much fear, I'd prefer JOC and Egan but one of those and Stears will be fine.

I hope you're right 8B although I remember several occasions when Stearman has been bullied by physical strikers - the one that sticks in my mind the most was by the Washing Machine last season. I see that (if Egan is unfit) as the biggest risk next Mon.

Of course it'll be a highly contested match, why shouldn't it be? The first ten minutes will be tight, no quarter asked or given, so we'll need to be focused and not allow slips to happen. Once the game settles into a rhythm, that's dictated by us, we'll be able to take control. We certainly have the players, and I include the bench in this estimation, to give us that bit extra when needed. They may have 'new manager' bounce, but what they don't have are the players and manager that we have. It was only a few games ago they were leaking like the Titanic, their play was disorganised, and they were unable to threaten whoever they played. So please don't expect us to be overly impressed by your deluded expectations, because that's exactly what they are, deluded. You the pigs who read this, will know that you're a broken flush, a side so mediocre that it'll take millions to make good what's gone wrong with your 'galaticos'.

Just think, the 'pub league' team have left you in our shadow, you're no longer able to gloat, all you can do is keep those fingers crossed and pray that you'll get a little luck that might, at best, get you a point. We're expecting you to put on a display so defensive, so lacking in ambition, that any neutral watching will realise that there's a gulf between you and us. You need new blood piggies, new players who are up for the job, so how are you going to afford them? Your chairman is doolally, he'll expect you mugs to divvy up the readies once again....and you know what? You will, despite your moans and complaints you'll look adoringly at your head taxi driver and give him whatever he asks for.......and with all I've written, which, after all, is a brief summary of your woes, you wonder why no one takes you seriously?

It won't be anywhere near as easy as some seem to think. Bruce has already got them better organised and playing with confidence. I worry if Egan hasn't recovered as I think Stearman will get bullied by Fletcher.

Any sort of victory would be fantastic.

I agree it won't be easy but it will be a better game than it was at The Lane.
Where them came to park the bus .
Cabbage head has allowed them to come out against other teams which will suit us to the ground.
I just want to get out of the game injury free so we have a full squad to face weeds in a big 6 pointer.

Wow!

I've got to say if this thread was on Owlstalk it would be held up by you lot as a classic example of why Wednesday fans are so arrogant.

Seems both sets of supporters are not as different as you like to make out.......

This is the thing. They aren't taking into account how much we've improved. They are definitely going to be better but so are we.
they honestly believe we havent improved at all , everyone else is just shit and they are only not top as theyve been mis managed , now Bruce is there , the titles wide open. They will win every game and the top 4 will all collapse, Reality not their strong point
They are the chosen ones , every clubs second team that they want to be in the prem,
Every fan at every club respects them and are aware when the sleeping giant awakes man city might as well fold
its not delusional , its the natural order wednesday ,,,, massive gap,,,, man city liverpool , man utd

No, it's because we don't regard you lot as the massive you lot like to make out, you're just another insignificant lower league club.

We are 21/20 and they are 12/5 so they are probably right :)

Bruce will be shitting himself. He doesn't have the quality of player he had at Villa and we absolutely gave them a footballing lesson and 4-1 could have been 6/7.

I can see them trying to keep it tight for as long as possible. It's ok saying they'll hit us on the break etc with pace, but Brucey boy had Anomah, Kodjia, Abraham, Grealish, El Ghazi to play - all with pace and skill and they couldn't do a thing.

I've not heard anybody say it will be easy. It sounds like they are playing better.

I'm not sure why Stearman would get bullied by Fletcher though. Decent battle. Jay Rodriguez certainly didn't bully Stearman

Can we just make sure we avoid speaking like Mr. Yeardley here...

Exactly.

Never ceases to amaze me how many Blades constantly slag them off for being cocky and arrogant, whilst behaving very similarly.

Despite the last two derbies, some still seem to think we only have to turn up to batter them.

This.

Wilder outclassed Bruce in every way shape and form against Villa....if that is in Bruces head then he may well set them up not to lose again....

What worries me is we could give them a Barcelona type football lesson and with their luck they'd get a 105 min deflected goal, in the last 19 years they have been the best team 3 or 4 times but loads of times we've battered them not got what we've deserved

Which will suit us very well.

Slightly interesting fact...

The last Sheffield Wednesday player to score a goal at Bramall Lane was Gary Madine.

They're new found confidence is quite hilarious, after scraping a few points against the division's basement teams, then 2 home wins against teams who seemed less interested in winning than I am in my wife's choice of soft furnishings.

They face a proper team on Monday.
