Coutts to play tonight

I said the first time I saw him after the injury, "I don't think he'll ever get back to how he was, he now knows what being hurt feels like, and he won't want that again", and im still standing by that.
I was a massive Coutts fan, but an injury like that, was always going to affect him.
I hope he gets better and fitter, but I still say he'll never be the same.

Hope to be proved wrong.
Sure his dislocated knee will have stung just a little bit.

Coutts' bigger issue is getting his quickness back, not overcoming a fear of being hurt.

My mate went, said Coutts just couldn't get round the pitch, as he said a few moths ago, he was never blessed with pace but what he had isn't there.

It has to be also said that pigs had 7 with plenty of first team experience so it was always going to be a struggle

Then your mate does not understand what job Coutts is tasked to do.

It’s not getting round the pitch, I can tell you that !!

Coutts does have a quickness to him though which is an important part of his game and which seemed to be missing the last time I saw him. It's completely to be expected, of course, but while he gets back up to speed he won't be close to the player he was. Really he needs proper minutes at full throttle (and meaning no disrespect to the U23s, I'm not sure you can get it there). A pre-season will help too.

Yes that was my worry. He still can pass and play those little wall passes etc or spray it about but he has to be able to move around more. Two or three times last night SWFC players robbed him and just ran past him. He was never quick but you need some mobility to play not matter what your role. He cannot run much at all now and that will stop him ever being a regular at this level. Hope he can get back but this lack of movement almost 16 months after an injury for a 30+ player makes me concerned.

It’s sad but Coutts looks a shadow of the player he was before his injury. I would not play him in the first team at the moment. It is very frustrating that Norwood picked up such a needless booking v Reading as we can’t really afford him to be suspended given Coutts’ situation - and I certainly don’t want him missing v the pigs.

Coutts isn't a stranger to injuries, he was out for a season whilst at Derby, having had knee surgery (Wikipedia reports it was a dislocated knee)
Agreed, but he's older now, I know I hurt more than I did at 21.
Just can't see us getting the old Coutts back, but, as I said, I'd like to be proved wrong.

Don't rule him out. I've seen little bursts of old Coutts in a couple of games when he's played, he just looks a bit top heavy (muscle, not fat).

Depends on the determination, he wouldn't be anywhere near the first team if he wasn't going full tilt in training.
