Football Heaven, or Football Hell!?

Was going to post a separate thread on this, or in the mental health thread.

I only caught the last 20 mins or so, when I was in range of Radio Sheff travelling back from work, but FPTTP*

*Fair play to the pig
I caught about 15 minutes of the interview, and thought it was really good. I still reserve the right to boo him when he fouls one of our players in a future derby match, (he clearly would expect no less), but he came across really well, in spite of (or perhaps because of) his mental health issues. Interesting to be reminded that even Wednesday players are human, and that there are things more important than football.

Very well said.

And FTP (obvs).

Wonder if I downed 12 pints and then rang in, it would all become clear??

It’ll end up being binned. It could be improved with better callers, but obviously those that could positively influence it, have better things to do (including listening to it an slating it).

I’ve listened twice this year but switched off mid way through both times. Not interested in getting involved myself so it’s easier to not listen. You can’t really overhaul it as those wanting it to be better, won’t call in, so the cycle of idiots would just continue.

I like listening to it while I'm making the tea. There's always some little gem on it most nights. Like the weds fan who kept referring to them being under a 'Transfer Umbargo' which kept me laughing for a good 20 minutes after, the daft twat....

I generally enjoy it but only listen once a fortnight for about 30 minutes. Inevitably Brian's on and honestly I don't know what to think of him(whether he believes himself or is just a good wum). Wednesday callers are usually a decent laugh with their expectations. Rotherham and Barnsley callers are usually good although we're getting that evolution with the dingles where they'll be claiming themselves the best club in S Yorks soon (happened last year with Rotherham).

About six years ago there was a real danger of all the BBC local radio stations being shut down due to the cuts in funding from the govt to the beeb..don't forget that not all your license fee goes to the beeb, there was a huge outcry by politicians on all sides at what could have been the end of local BBC radio stations.
This would have meant the end of local news, weather and travel bulletins as well as coverage of all local sports team esp live commentary.
The beeb rearragned it's local radio radio organisation and programming so at night from about 10 pm to about 7 the next morning a larger area was covered by one braodcast as happens now, in other words after 10pm it is basically a yorkshire radio station before going back to local in the mornings and the day...ie so Rad sheff York and Weeds combine for night broadcasts unless some local sport gets in the way...ie extar time in a playoff final 2nd leg etc etc.
As regards footie I feel privaliged to able to listen to live match commentary esp the away games and esp now in these exiting times being a blade. On a satdi afternoon if the Blades are at home there is one of the rad sheff presenters covering the gameand sometimes with a co commentator, last weeks home game for example was Andy Giddings doing it from the lane and that commentary is also used by Ifollow, which i use....:rolleyes: ahem , for the away games I use the live FM radio as Ifollow is about 1 minute behind actual live...;);).

You don't have to like or listen to footy heaven but I would hope that all of you appreciate it being there and it's value not just for the sport.
Before anyone asks no i don't work for the beeb.
up the Blades

and you would have never heard this without local radio.

Must say I thought Hutchinson talked well and made some sense. Then...10 minutes later who comes on but the Pitsmoor Pillock. Told us he had been "incasserated" for 5 years and had problems himself. Now who would have thought it. He sounded like he was going to burst into tears but the presenter gave him some TLC. It's sad that the show is so desperate for phoners that they have to treat this dude as normal.
Okay time to head for the Midlands.

A little better tonight on my drive home, Adam is Much more competent host, than Moron Mike.

You'd be depressed if you'd been Mr Bigs bitch for five years.
