Mcgoldrick

Not quite, but just 10 minutes searching showed plenty weren't happy, including your good self.

Everyone makes mistakes. Perphaps one or two might want to fess up?

That quote says absolutely nothing about what I thought about the signing of McGoldrick.

I even suggested we look at him before we took him on trial.

I think it was pretty much agreed on here that he was a good player at this level.

The concern was that he's prone to snapping himself in half. That was a rational concern, and still is.

I think he's bloody brilliant at the football, and I desperately hope we can keep him fit.

That's as maybe, but your quote is taken verbatim and I haven't altered anything.

To me, your quote read that just signing DM would be a massive disappointment. Others didn't see it like that at the time and don't now either.

Other than his current red hot form, I like the fact that he's got previous v. Wednesday and will be eager to get one over on them when we play them. Loovens' hard tackle supposedly left him with "a 4 inch gash". :)

That really is a disgraceful tackle. If you watch it slowly you'll notice that at no point was the ball anywhere near where Loovens swings his foot, even if McGoldrick hadn't touched the ball Loovens still wouldn't have kicked it.

As for my comment I still stick by it but at the same time realise he’s doing a grand old job for the mighty Blades and hopefully it continues.

My concerns regards his previous seasons can surely be seen by many but they won’t matter one iota if he carries on what he’s doing. The past should stay in the past for most things in life including football, sometimes though it’s the only thing you have at the time to judge things on and there was quite a bit of evidence to suggest it would be a mediocre signing and it had nothing to do with the fee.

I must say though, I really like him and he has a big influence on how the game goes when he plays.

Not getting carried away but when does it get to a point where we need to consider extending his contract?

Always sceptical when players play well, get the contract then do nowt (Leon). but if he gets 10 goals by christmas, can speak to other clubs in January and whilst we’re convenient for his family, florist are even more so??

I expect CW knows. :)

Couldn't believe me ears when Keith Edwards was having a bit of a pop, saying how quiet he was. Thought he was excellent all game again.
Was he being serious? If so I lost count of the number of quiet games he had but he still popped up to score in most of them.

Also he drags his studs down McGoldrick's stomach.
Whose turn is it this year for Wednesday not to be afraid of? McGoldrick must be one and let's say Norwood (as they don't know anything about him).

100% me and I'm glad I was wrong, never want to see a player fail....first few games he was terrible and hindsight is a wonderful thing, my opinion was probably reflected in the match day reports on here. I actually think Sharp has brought the best out in him, he plays on the shoulder better than Clarke which has meant McGoldrick can come short and link play easier (they also seem to really enjoy playing together which cant always be said with Clarke and Sharp if rumours are anything to go by). Hopefully he continues with this form and fitness for the duration

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but how has McGoldrick not got in the Ireland team ahead of some of this list?!

Forwards : Shane Long (Southampton), Graham Burke, Callum Robinson, Sean Maguire (Preston North End), Aiden O’Brien (Millwall), Scott Hogan (Aston Villa), Ronan Curtis (Portsmouth).

II'm thinking mainly of Scott Hogan who's played no football this season and League One Curtis. I can only assume McGoldrick's age goes against him. Aiden O'Brien also has less goals than McGoldrick.

Before anyone says it I know its arguably a good thing because he can rest but just surprised with this and obviously Fleck's absence is a joke from the Scotland team.

As a side note, if we did go for it this January for a striker signing from this league that we could afford, Callum Robinson would be a good shout but would probably cost us 6m plus.

Booker,

I don’t think McGoldrick offers much energy or physicality to a team.
He also needs to ball playing to his feet, not knocking the ball into empty space for him to run into.

Maybe McGoldricks more celebral cultured style doesn’t fit the Ireland team?
Also I suppose his age and injury record are held against him too.
Anyway it’s our gain that McGoldrick is getting rest during the international breaks.

I guess knowing O'Neil's football is more psychical that McGoldrick isn't as suited as a Jon Walters type and there is the age, but then you get him selecting Hogan who's not played all season ,but as you say its probably a good thing. I just like to see our players rewarded for their good form but obviously we don't want an injury to McGoldrick on international duty, as he's become an important player.

Do you think Tufty has lost interest in Scott Hogan? I’m sure he hasn’t.

I agree - there may be a few signings in the JTW - a quality striker could be the ONLY signing we need to make, if the team carries on like it is.

New manager at Villa could mean Hogan is surplus to requirements - perhaps a loan paying all wages to end of season with a view to signing permanently could really suit us, and even Villa who would get a big wage earner off their wage bill.

UTB

Man of the match for me as well.

Further generic words about what a great signing he's been

Dropped deaper more often second half and ran the show,

I wonder if we could play him behind Sharp and Hogan instead of Duffy?
