So here’s the plan….
McCabe sends an email to The Prince (or vice-versa):-
“Hey look, I know that we no longer see eye to eye but I’ve got a proposal that could greatly benefit us both.
United now have a golden opportunity to get promoted that may never present itself again in our lifetimes.
What do you say we both give Chris Wilder £5M to spend as he sees fit in this transfer window?
Best case scenario, the extra £10M makes all the difference, we get promoted and hit the £200M jackpot (20% chance?)
Most likely scenario, he invests the £10M wisely and grows the £10M to a value of maybe £15-40M with a shrewd acquisition or two (70% chance?)
Worst case scenario, he invests the £10M badly and reduces the £10M to a value of maybe £2M (10% chance?)
If we do succeed, we all become heroes to the supporters and legends forever more.
If we fail, well at least nobody can say we didn’t try and push the boat out a little when the opportunity was there.
Seems like a no-brainer of a worthwhile gamble to me. What do you say?”
It's a daft scenario but i applaud the sentiments. Any club in a decent position like ours, with a decent manager like ours, with a big ground and big support should be falling over backwards to give Wilder the backing to give us the best chance possible. It's not going to happen because they're a set of penny pinching w*****s on the board.
At least your post has drawn out all the usual small timers (tbh I wish they'd f*** off and watch Rotherham, a perfect match, a small time club to match their small time ambition), oohhh we don't want United to spend any money, lets see how it goes with what we've got ... well when we fail in May time, either missing out on top 6 or losing in the play-offs and Wilder's moved onto pastures new, let's not have all small timers crying on here with what might have been.
