I am 47 and for 39 of those years I have not missed too many games at the lane.
Years 92/96 I only attended occasional games,I was setting up my own business and had a 4 year old and a two year old who kept me away from the lane. Once my daughter reached 5 back to the lane I went and she came in tow. She is now 17 and this is the 1st season she has not had a season ticket due to A level studies and a part time job.
Over the years I have seen some dross at the lane and indeed things have been much worse than what they are now. However my expectations have changed and I feel so have a lot of other peoples.
Unless things change, this time next season there will be lots of people without season tickets.
I don't normally come on forums and knock but after today I have had enough. I didn't even slate us under Robson but I feel the football is now worse than the last season of the Bassett days.

Mr McCabe is very unlikely to get rid of Mr Blackwell. So do we put up with it.Well unless there is a massive improvement I will be voting with my feet next season,I cannot continue to watch the garbage we are being given.
When fans like myself start to become fed up we really are at a low.

Can someone check on Duncan, I'm not sure how he's going to take this....

A far more constructive way of getting your point across.

Completely your choice, if you can bring yourself to make it :)

How did you get to be a Honourary Hibee ?
You know you're bad when a certain Rob Jones has kept the defence at bay all afternoon

Cheers Alien.

I think expectations have been too high, I've dropped mine.

Its not to say that i'm not pissed off with things, I am, I just think, like yourself that although forums are often great for venting anger, pointing the finger at individuals doesn't improve anything without back up.

Were down to 10th as I write and the statement "the table doesn't lie" is further supported.

You're right, things need to improve and I'm sure they will.

The style of football may not change too quickly but we need to ride out the storm and when we get a few players back and sort out Killa's situation then things will get back on track.

we fooling ourselfs thinking that we can reach the premiership.. we`re simply an average team, and the chiarman has shown he`s more intrested in other investments than the blades

I would consider myself an arch clapper but I honestly think we have no chance, whatsoever, of succeeding under Blackwell.

This squad with Coyle or Irvine in charge would be winning the league at a canter, and to be honest if we had those managers, and the money Blackwells had, the squad would currently be significantly stronger. It is time for a change, without question.

Although I have a season ticket, I wont be going on Saturday.

This season was always going to be one of change and development. It was said in close season that the policy was to move away from older high wages with nowt to prove to younger players with a sell on value.
We have refused to be held to ransom by those who wanted to take us for a ride (Lita / Camara etc).
But no matter what there is no excuse for the type of behaviour today from some of our so called fans who wanted to abuse players - near me a gang were abusing Hendo in the bloody warm up!
Today I am more embarrassed to be a Blade because of the nuckle draging idiots who were on the side stand than the performance or the result. They were absolute cretins of the highest order and even chanted for Blackwell to die - yes die!!

Todays "enemies" were far less abusive than our own.

Perhaps sat with the inbred's wasn't as bad as I thought :)

Foxy I've been everywhere with the Blades evn through the times when you knew you'd get a kicking but never - never in my life did I ever think I'd hear Blades abusing other Blades - fans and players like I did today. It was sickening.

I'm over 6 foot and been known to look after myself but today I was surrounded snarled at and abused for challenging a knuckle draging oik who was abusing Hendo, calling Evans welsh scum and wishing Blacky would die. A woman in her 50s sat 3 seats away tried to say something and also subjected to a venomous foul mouthed volley.

We used to take the piss out of the Pigs for their arrogance but I'll tell you what we've gathered some who think that the more you rant, abuse and ridicule the better it will get. IT WON'T.

Before some start saying " so you think we did ok " no I dont - but if I was one of several players who today played through illness and/or injury and put up with that I'd be away as soon as I could because today our fans didn't deserve someone taking a risk with their health and career for them.

One last thing for those who say players won't come here because of Blacky and/or our 'style'. Players talk to each other between clubs and I'll tell you what there'll be as many who don't want t o play for us because of the so called fans !!!!

Tis a self-bestowed Honouraryship. Was on a stag do up there 2 weeks ago so we all went along to the game v Dundee Utd and it was just a brilliant day out.

Going up again, Jan 2 if I can wangle it, later in the month if not. GGTTH.

Yer know things are bad when there's a civil war !

What cums first the chicken or the egg ?

Me an a lot of my mates have been Blades for more years than we care to remember to say quality players won't cum to BDTBL because of the fans is bollox in my opinion !

The clueless two hat Blackwell as i've said before will do more damage to the Blades if he is allowed to stay than F!0pp0.

A fc uking disgrace the whole management at BDTBL.

Well summed mate. We had a 'golden opportunity' a couple if years ago and we blew it.
If this is the best we can do then we are in for a very long season.
Blackwell is the one with the 'play off' hangover. He's got to be honest with himself. Can he take us forwards ? If not he should go.
Having had a season ticket for more years than I care to remember if I was asked now to renew for next season I know what the answer would be.

I started following The Hibees in 71 after seeing a pic in a football annual of a player called Pat Stanton who is the Hibees equivalent of Currie.
I've had some great times up there and for two years had a season ticket up there and one at the lane. One week Bramall Lane the next Easter Road. That was an expensive couple of years.
Next time you go up look out for the cabbage and rib which is a great Hibees bar.
Try Hibs.net it's a great forum and they are just as depressed as us

Started having a look at Hibees Bounce and just ordered a t shirt. Went past the C and R on way out but we went back to the Middleton Bar instead. Cracking atmos with the place split down the middle, half Hibees and half Arabs taking turns for a sing song. Glory Glory Sheff United shut them both up momentarily though....

I too remember Pat Stanton, him and Joe Harper at Aberdeen were the only non OF players you ever saw in Shoot.

Hibs became my favourite Scottish club in 1973 because I became a firm friend of a Hibee who was in the same class as me between 1973 and 1977 at my boarding school. The Blades became his favourite English club too.During my family's week long stay at my father in law's in Perthshire last August, my son and I met up with my old schoolmate in Falkirk and we watched Hibs win 3-1 at Falkirk. Anthony Stokes was playing his debut for Hibs

Hibs are my scottish team of choice because Irvine Welsh is a fan, and he has been very complimentary of us in the past. I think he even deliberately timed a book signing visit to coincide with us being at home!

I'm another Blade who has a preference for Hibernian over any other Scottish club.

For me it was being captivated by a series of Irvine Welsh novels, in which for the most part the main characters we're Hibee's. Never been to see them at Easter Road which is a shame, but they are the side i like to see do well from afar.

For me, there is just that something about them that makes me think they are the nearest thing to Sheffield United in Scotland

You must have written that at the same time i was writing my post.

You look at the books and most of the main characters have been staunch Hibee's as well

Except Filth, about the bentest copper you've ever heard of, who is a Hearts fan :D

Your right on that one.

In Glue, in the 1980 bit, there is one of the finest bits of writing about going to a football match you will ever read when they all go to Easter Road to watch a George Best inspired Hibs beating Rangers 1-0.

I am sorry to hear about that Trevor.

I had a similar incident away at QPR last season. Dingle Howard was having a stinker and I stood up and said 'get that tw*t Bobby Ford off the pitch, he's not fit to pull on Blades shirt' (or words to that effect). This was a little out of order, but I was sick of him under performing. The next thing I had a bloke standing over me threatening to deck me. He was completely pissed (probably been drinking since 6am on the train) and he made a real scene. He was shouting and swearing and threatening physical abuse. It was embaressing more than anything. I too am over 6 foot and wigh about 13 and a half stone. If I'd have been in my late teens/early 20's I'd have hit him, but those days are long gone and I really don't abide by aggression any more. The point is that some pissed up thug was spoiling things for other people. So I feel for you mate. Cynics would say that I had it coming for abusing a Blade (although he could have gone about it differntly) but it sounds like you did absolutely nothing wrong.

Thanks for that Ollesandro.

It wasnt just me that was the brunt of their aggression but anyone who didnt sing what they wanted - ie. abuse at players - or tried to get a more positive angle on things going. A woman - late 40s or so about 3 seats from me got some right abuse for just saying that they'd overstepped the mark wanting Blacky dead !!!

Some others in that area moved away and stood in the corner near stewards and some just walked out - some because they knew we wouldnt get back into game but some because they feared for their safety. One family encouraged me to go with them 'cos theyd seen the abuse I took. I refused - I don't give in to that type of thing and support the Blades to end of every match - jeez I even stayed till at you know where in Dec 1979.

I saw it at the Doncaster Match. One numbskull seemed to take great delight in slagging Blackwell, the players, and everything about United behind me on the kop.

I turned round and tried to reason with him, and his response that was that i should be getting behind the team rather than having a go at him??? There really was no reasoning with him at all, but i think i did make him see a bit of sense as he did shut up for a bit.

i had a couple next to me who was moaning because it was quite sayin our away fans are f'ing shit and things to the affect only about 20 id say he was pissed as a fart, an older bloke infront turned and said you want to try following them for 30 years mate when there playing this bad its hard to get an atmosphere going which the lad then strting singing about been a fan for 30 years so we wont sing or something to that effect no respect unfortunatly, funny thing is for first 45 mins all he did was stand looking towards the back boards of the stand banging away didnt see any of the game true football fan for u.
