Madine

So the positives are that he managed to find a player who was offside and that he threaded a through ball that went to their keeper?
Do you want him to make Leon run fucking quicker and tell Sharp to bend or time his run!?
Fine, you think Dowell was shit too.

Still baffled by this signing... on that performance ... what does he add? We can stop playing football and try and sling it up to the tit and he will get the occasional header but Leon Clarke or any of the centre backs can do that... we were crying out for someone with pace to come on and go at defenders

Could JOC or Egan not have done exactly the same!!?

Yes of course they could you absolute tit

Why not use a defender?

If we are chasing a game and playing football why not

Worked with greg Halford

Some of the daftest opinions I've read on here, all from one poster, on one thread - a new record?

Sharp’s chance was ten times easier than McGoldrick’s. Half the people on this forum would have scored the one Sharp missed.

Well quite but to be honest with you I've not seen Madine play all that much. I know about his aerial ability but he couldn't be a carthorse on the deck for all I know. I certainly agree that Sharp's chance was easier.

Madine made a positive impact when he came on, that can’t be argued with. However, what tonight also showed is that his way of playing absolutely doesn’t fit into our usual style of play. His presence encourages long ball. He’s a good option to throw on if we’re losing late on but he’s going to start very few games. We’ll be paying a lot of money for him and he doesn’t upgrade our starting 11.

And for anyone who cares, I’ve been saying this since we were first linked with him. I sincerely hope I’m wrong

We shall agree to disagree ... I think he's shite, a waste of oxygen as a human being and encourages a direct style which we should stay away from... 5th choice striker for me and that's not including the defenders who could do his job ... I hope I'm proved wrong and he scores 15 goals and wins us promotional but deep down we all know there is fuck all chance of that happening

I didn’t say he was shit so stop twisting my words. I said he didn’t touch the ball so couldn’t be listed as a positive. Personally I felt he looked like he wasn’t sure where he should be half the time but as it’s only his second game I can give him some slack.

I can pass a ball too long and then blame the player for not running quickly enough. He was no more ‘positive’ than Egan and he’s not on your list

Think we found your real issue with him.

I think Madine can bring a good 2nd option, it was evident we worked on this in training, Norwood at the base of a diamond, taking the ball forward to pull their attacking players press off of our backline, then passing back to a defender in space to hoof it to Madine and in all fairness it was getting the ball forwards, it just didn't drop right today.

Ok.
Egan was better than Dowell. Who didn't touch the ball.

You should have signed up for Dry January or whatever it's called.

We often start playing longballs when we're losing and the kitchen sink method has been enacted.

At least now we have someone on the end of it.

Today we were playing high balls from the first minute, like we forgot our team has an average height of about 2'3".

I think you must have been watching a different game to me. We certainly didn’t play long ball that first half

Did you not read the whole post? I can’t tell if your trolling or your just pissed up. Either way your talking bollocks

Greg halford was a defender I've seen him play much better games up fron than madine ever has ..... Preston in the playoffs 1 0 ... Blackpool away 3 1

Didn't say we were. I said high balls.

Noticeably less on the floor today. As soon as we play it chest or above we're slowing ourselves down, yet we kept doing it.

Can you define ‘high balls’ then please? I assumed you meant long ball but obviously not

I saw plenty of football on the floor from us first half

Short(ish) passes played to chest or head.

We still played on the floor as well, but more balls required controlling before we could get a pass away than usual to my eyes.

Seemed to stop us getting in our groove.

FFS. Have you been waiting for his first appearance to post this?

Took the words right out my mouth.

Drunk blade pull your tampon out and accept he has signed lol

Edit: Just seen your Egan/JOC suggestion... are you off your tree mate they are defenders, thus play in defence which generally are away from the opposition penalty area.

You are missing the point pal madine has no attributes of a good striker .. A defender up front would do the same sort of job

I was fairly impressed with Madine. We definitely went overboard in looking for him with long balls but I thought he did ok with the meager service we gave him.

Absolute rubbish. If you can't see what he could potentially bring to the team you are blinkered

Other than a long ball option what does he give us that mcgoldrick, Sharpe or Clarke don't?

Oh piss off he was actually our best player
