Not so sure on Dowell but I agree on the other three.

Duffy had a hand in creating both chances the strikers missed. If they had been put away as they should we'd be talking about Duffy as a little genius again.
I understand you're comparing Dowell to Duffy because he came on for him, but Dowell broke through the center a couple of times and threaded a few nice balls through.
I'm not sure it has to be one or the other you know, I reckon we could accommodate both if they carry on playing well and Fleck and Ollie don't.

Not tall enough
Sorry but your talking absolute rubbish, thought he was decent when he came on, won the ball, laid it off and some nice touches, can’t blame him for not scoring two sitters in the first half? Bonkers how some people see the game.

Based on that pervormance and his stats how many will he score if he plays every minute of the remianing games this season... 3 or 4?

Sorry, I should have said that in addition, I thought Duffy came out with some merit. I wasn't trying to compare him directly to Dowell.

I'm not sure on Dowell yet, it could go either way. Some nice touches but his final ball is often poor (there were a few against Barnet, and today when he tried to play in Clarke). He also got out-muscled easily a few times but then he is a young-ish lad still.

Still baffled by this signing... on that performance ... what does he add? We can stop playing football and try and sling it up to the tit and he will get the occasional header but Leon Clarke or any of the centre backs can do that... we were crying out for someone with pace to come on and go at defenders
S S Of Pork.

Are you drunk?

Madines hold up play is the best at the club and today he showed signs of that, some nice lay offs.
Clarke isn’t actually that physical and his hold up play is average, he’s more of an allrounder.
The issue is that Madines presence encourages us to try the long ball into the box much more than normal.

Agree though that a pacey forward is something we lack, although when Swansea stayed back towards the end, pace isn’t as effective because there’s a lack of space. There’s were a few crosses into a crowded box and Swansea defending was desperate but it fell to their player. On another day we score from goal mouth scrambles.

It’s not always about him directly scoring goals, if he creates chances for us and being a handful then he’s doing what we’ve brought him in for. Got to take into consideration it’s his first half a game for us, and if we actually put in some decent crosses that second half I’d reckon he’d have a chance of bagging goals.

If we base it on that 20 minutes, he got the same as Sharp and McGoldrick did with much longer on the pitch, who have 26 between them. So good times!

Yes of course they could you absolute tit

So you propose bunging a defender up as a target man in these circumstances??? Seeing as though they both go up anyway for corners and free kicks and they rarely score or create knockdowns I’d go with no.

If you want a target man, you play a bloody target man.

Reminded me of watching Blackwells teams when he came on .. we would have scored if we had sticked to playing football

I think there's a good chance Hendo would win a few. But I wouldn't use him as an option for the rest of the season.
Very true ... having said that do you not think madines wages would be better invested in a striker with pace?

Why not use a defender?

Don’t make the mistake of judging a player based on stats, football doesn’t work like that.

It’s irrelevant how many Madine or even Sharp score.

The objective is to win matches, so you play players to make your team better so that they score more goals than the opposition.
The goal scorer is irrelevant as it only counts as 1 goal, whether it’s a defender, midfielder or sub.
Also these days a striker has defensive duties to close down the opposition and defend, preventing goals.

You win as a team and lose as a team. So if Sharp doesn’t score a single goal all season but he makes a big input to helping us win most of the remaining games, then Sharp deserves to keep his place.

He's got a bit. I think his wages would be better spent on a 30 goal a seasoner, who is tall and rapid... But they aren't on a shelf.

The lads had 20 minutes, I'm not his biggest fan (understatement), but judge his worth in May.

Hmmmmm. I think maybe you’re just stirring the pot sir. We were still trying to cross from wide as well as deep and playing it around, it’s called mixing the play and Madine did ok. If you want to watch a team playing the Blackwell way, take a look at a Pork game online, any one will do, they’re all utter hoofing shite.

I couldn't say on Sharp's chance (although most strikers should have taken it!) but I fancy he'd have buried McGoldrick's.

Sharp’s chance was ten times easier than McGoldrick’s. Half the people on this forum would have scored the one Sharp missed.

When was the last time Madine played in a team that plays football? Think his stats are mostly irrelevant if we continue to generally not hoof and hope.

The balls we put in usually, if Madine is there he could get 10 before the seasons out.

Apart from JOC and Henderson we were shite today, never at it, trying to be unnecessarily clever and too casual in possession. Nothing to do with Madine who was a bit of relief when he came on and at least caused a bit of unrest in their defence.

Agree, it reminded me of Blackwell style too
But it’s totally different to our normal style and in some situations will gain us extra points.

He was 1 of only 4 positives for me today.
Dowell
Deano
O'Connell
And Madine
Don’t let facts get in the way of agendas pal. ;)

BTW I thought Egan did ok as well but the rest were off their games which is too many to win a game like this...we move on

If we are chasing a game and playing football why not
Because we would very quickly have a much larger goal deposit to make up, what we should do is play our normal agressive attacking football, with the only difference being putting the ball in more direct, with a target man subbed on to bring it down.

He chipped the ball in for the shot Billy missed late on.
He broke through and threaded a ball to Clarke as well.

So the positives are that he managed to find a player who was offside and that he threaded a through ball that went to their keeper?

Still baffled by this thread..... what does it add?

We have just stopped posting in 1 of the 100 Madine threads and keep bringing up new boring as fuck Madine posts.

We are all crying out for someone with orginality to come and start a thread on something other than Madine.

“Ohhh look at me and my shite opinion”

Cock.
