Gone back to Liverpool:

Hands up here, I was really excited by this signing. It has very much underlined the value of having players on their second/third loan spell though, which is why Dowell should (should!) work out differently.

Ultimately a bad move for both parties - he didn't offer enough in the minutes we were able to give him, and we've been too good to carry him in the team. In retrospect he should really have gone to a lower Championship team like Harvey Barnes (Barnsley) and Harry Wilson (Hull) did last year.

Strange one really as you’d hope that a player of his calibre would and could hit the ground running and at least displace the 30 something short arse who we know as the bounce killer.

Seems that for whatever efforts Woodburn put in before his injuries, it wasn’t enough to put him ahead of duffy

Shame it didn't work out for him, but it was always going to be tough to displace one of our midfielders and get enough game time

A rude awakening for the kid

If it was his attitude that's kept him out of the side, good riddance, I hope you're stacking shelves in the next 2years!

If it was just his ability, good luck to him, I hope it works out for him somewhere else.

Not picking on you here FTPE, more a general question - is there any evidence, anywhere, of an attitude problem from Woodburn? Or is it just someone on Facebook saw someone on Twitter who saw someone on West Street?

I've seen it bandied about like fact but never actually saw what started it. Couldn't just be a case of "wannabe big-shot Premier League star rocks up at little Championship club" could it? ;)

It’s a possibility that he’s not currently of the calibre that people thought he was, and would possibly benefit from either more u23 action or a Divison 1 loan. As Flavor Flav so elegantly put it, don’t be believe the hype, ohhhh ohhh. :)

I'm not basing the attitude part on anything but gossip, the same stuff you've probably heard with the sounds of things.
If I believed it was "fact" then I wouldn't bother wishing him well in the second part.
I dont know what to think, it's hard to imagine that a highly touted prospect like him couldn't take Lundstrams place on the bench but whatever the reasons are I trust Wilder and I hope for the players sake it was just a case of "wrong move, at the wrong time".

Back to the hype machine then.

I wonder how they can salvage his world class reputation? I'm sure they'll manage it.

Said previously that Liverpool supporting lads who I work with were very sceptical at how well he would do with us. Has been dining out on one decent showing for them and that Wales goal for a while now. They certainly don't think he will cut it with them in the future.

Shame though.

We have a mutual acquaintance, and from what I've heard, he's a nice young lad. Apparently he's quite meek, which may explain why he had such trouble establishing himself here.

Saw him a number of time for Hearts last season
  • marginally better than with us ( admittedly a [very] low bar)
  • they don’t want to keep him
  • draw your own conclusion

Where's Origi gone? I reckon he'd easily walk into most Premier League teams.

Edit: Just seen he's joining AC Milan. GLTTL.
yeah it would be a great move for origi but he's a bit chris porter like for liverpool. a cult hero for scoring important goals in massive games. but never really impressed over his stay

Will be interesting to see were Woodburn ends up.

Maybe L1 with Derby or the Pigs?

At the time I recall Liverpool fans saying that United had wasted his talent, maybe the fact he's had numerous indifferent loan spells since says that he isn't as good as Liverpool fans first thought. He'll probably have to do what James Wilson has done but dropping down to League 1 or 2 to find his level and go from there. Wilson actually looks pretty good now for Vale.
