Not sure it will be as worth while a plan b as it was in league 1. We have better quality now to work our way in behind teams, we tend to not hoof it up even in the last minutes.

Madine has only ever performed well playing under that style of play. His best patch at Wednesday was under Megson when they were hoofing it to him and O’Grady.

Playing our usual system Madine is now 4th or 5th choice alongside Washington. He will be called upon when we are struggling to break teams down and we change shape.

Doubt he will be 4th or 5th - Madine will be used in a similar way to how we used Hanson - there may be times when he starts games with Billy up top. Doubt McG will start every game either. The way Leon hasn't been pulling up trees, he's now probably 4th choice behind Madine.

What we've been missing is the type of goal we scored v Peterborough away - getting a tall player at the back.

You mentioned "our usual system" - we would have won the league in L1 without Hanson, but Wilder wanted a different option that season for certain games.

Both Dowell and Madine with all the others gives CW lost of different options.

I've read the opposite on here tonight stating that he wasn't a target man but played as a striker that scored goals for the Wendy

I think he'll be called upon not only as an impact sub when we need to go to plan B, but also as a starter against teams with a big strong physical presence or with certain weaknesses, for example young CB's who don't like being bullied.

As wilder states time and time again "he offers us something else", as with all his signings. That's how we unearth or rejuvenate players in the way we do, Wilder has a player for every opposition.

I'd be willing to wager £10 (to a charity of the winner's choice) that McGoldrick starts more games between now and the end of the season than Madine does.

Comparing Deane and.Madine that's just wrong

The way that Bassett played his football, particularly at Wimbledon, the media thought Deane as a target man - he quite simply wasn't. He was a tall bloke who had a deft touch and was a lot more skillful than some gave him credit for.

There are some on here who percieve Madine was being here for a touch of hoofball - my opinion he isn't. Madine also is decent with the ball at his feet. Being 6' 4" it would be daft not to use his height when needed.

There are numerous on here who go bonkers about not putting the ball into the box at times - again, we now have a solution, when applicable that we CAN put it in the box as there is someone who can compete with big centre halves.

My comparison was about both Deane and Madine being seen (by some) as a big lumps up top to hoof it to - they are not.
