It’s probably covered above (cba to read) but I’m fairly sure this deal has been done.

Totally agree.

Shrewdness in the transfer market is assessing your own squads strengths and weaknesses.
Then going out recruiting someone with the right attributes to fit your team
and even better if that player is currently performing below their standard as you’ll pick up a bargain.

Almost every Cardiff fan thinks Madine has been a poor signing for them
But that can be a red herring because it depends on the reason why? Also what style do Cardiff play? And how can SU benefit from a player like Madine?

I’ll give some examples. Leon Britain was highly rated at Swansea so Blackwell bought him and he was really poor here, didn’t suit our style. We quickly sold him back to Swansea and he was instantly a good player again.

If Billy Sharp played at Cardiff’s they would probably say he’s poor like under Blackwell, returns back to us and he’s scoring again.

A few weeks ago we all agreed we needed 1 maybe 2 higher quality strikers
But since then Sharp and McGoldick have been a revelation, in fact up there with the best striker duo’s in this league.
Our fans have even suggested that maybe we don’t need to upgrade Sharp and McG, as they may well be good enough.

Suspect Madine hasn’t been bought to replace Sharp or McG, he’s only been bought to bring on as a battering ram when required, as a last throw of the dice. At home to Wednesday it was so obvious that with someone like Madine up front we’d have likely scored.

I think as long as it’s low cost or performance related pay then it’s a shrewd signing but it kind of shows our lack of ambition as it’s surely a squad addition, not someone to improve the starting 11.

Another really important point is Wilder wants promotion this season but only has a limited budget to spend.

January is notoriously a difficult time to sign players because most clubs don’t want to sell, so everyone is overpriced.
The wise choice for short term instant improvements is bring in loanees from the PL or someone tried and tested at Championship level.

So our market is to lure young PL talents that still need developing or bring in more experienced players who are out of favour.

Basically the choice of loanees isn’t great. Remember it was only 12 months ago that Madine was one of the most effective strikers in the Championship playing in a struggling Bolton side.

Maybe Wilder is being pragmatic, his tactical half season review show we lack physicality, height and heading ability up front.
So to cover this weakness he’s gone for the best available to cover our tactical shortfall. There’s baggage but no negative national media campaign and our club has experience with baggage players (King and Ched) and those shit storms blew over.

You more or less said it yourself (plan B ) he probably won't start many matches.
Don't know where you get the lack of ambition from as he cost Cardiff possibly 6 million ,they will want a good fee for his loan services.
Club also taking a risk of upsetting some fans with the signing just like with Ched,that will in my opinion get blown away in the wind especially if it's a successful loan.
I'm sure he must regret what happened a few years ago maybe it's his way to redress his failings back then.
 
This is a good signing given our pathetic budget, and weakness in the air up front - provided the intention is to use him for plan B and not the main event - which I fully expect to be the case.

Though I don’t really care about his history, I do care that it divides the fans at a time when there’s the most unity we’ve had in years.

So I see why we’ve done it, but it’s still a gamble.

But fucking your season up would be more likely defined by selling a player, not actually adding an option. I get it that you don’t like the signing, but claiming that it derails us is just hyperbole.

I will take that. But there is no way he glides into S2 and gets on with football. Sharp may say it's OK but he hates him, so do the fans, so do most people. He's a cunt, in fact he's a super cunt. Wilder is getting this one wrong.

I’ve no doubt that Wilder has squared this with the players, especially Sharp.

And, rightly or wrongly, hostility to Madine would evaporate given (for example) a winning goal at The Sty.
