How do you know he is have you met him ?
Chris Wilder thinks he can help us, and Madine complements the other forwards well.
Personally I'm hopeful, but not certain that he'll do well. I remember Nigel Clough saying how difficult it was with strikers, you're never quite certain how they're going to fit in and just hope they'll get an early goal and kick on from there. I'm often surprised how sure some fans seem to be regarding new signings, how confident they seem to be about their own knowledge to say that player A will be great and player B will be shit. Who the hell could tell that Onuora was going to be a failure and Allison a success! That Basham would be phenomenal for us, but Woodburn a flop?
Madine have had a mixed career, and his last spell hasn't been a success. Cardiff fans have seen him start five games though. We'll just have to assess how he fits in, how match sharp he is and if he takes his chances. What I hope to see from him is that he gives us an extra threat in the box, especially in games when teams defends deep and in numbers. When we're struggling to carve through teams, like Birmingham, Hull, Stoke, pigs and Leeds, the option of a back post cross and an aerial strong target may turn some draws into wins for us.
You more or less said it yourself (plan B ) he probably won't start many matches.Totally agree.
Shrewdness in the transfer market is assessing your own squads strengths and weaknesses.
Then going out recruiting someone with the right attributes to fit your team
and even better if that player is currently performing below their standard as you’ll pick up a bargain.
Almost every Cardiff fan thinks Madine has been a poor signing for them
But that can be a red herring because it depends on the reason why? Also what style do Cardiff play? And how can SU benefit from a player like Madine?
I’ll give some examples. Leon Britain was highly rated at Swansea so Blackwell bought him and he was really poor here, didn’t suit our style. We quickly sold him back to Swansea and he was instantly a good player again.
If Billy Sharp played at Cardiff’s they would probably say he’s poor like under Blackwell, returns back to us and he’s scoring again.
A few weeks ago we all agreed we needed 1 maybe 2 higher quality strikers
But since then Sharp and McGoldick have been a revelation, in fact up there with the best striker duo’s in this league.
Our fans have even suggested that maybe we don’t need to upgrade Sharp and McG, as they may well be good enough.
Suspect Madine hasn’t been bought to replace Sharp or McG, he’s only been bought to bring on as a battering ram when required, as a last throw of the dice. At home to Wednesday it was so obvious that with someone like Madine up front we’d have likely scored.
I think as long as it’s low cost or performance related pay then it’s a shrewd signing but it kind of shows our lack of ambition as it’s surely a squad addition, not someone to improve the starting 11.
It’s probably covered above (cba to read) but I’m fairly sure this deal has been done.
Done then
Sounds likes its done![]()

It really doesn’t.This fucks up the season. Learning curve for Wilder.
It really doesn’t.
Can't see a confirmed anywhere.
“It came quickly that. I just felt, you know, the run that he’s had with us he just needs to go away get a clean sheet and get some goals scored – and I think they create chances do ‘Sheffield’. I said to him ‘Go get my old club up’, get them promoted and enjoy himself a bit.
”It’s just felt like such a heavy load on his head at times, because starting with things like missing a penalty, you know. But sometimes it’s good to wipe the slate clean and have a fresh start – and financially it’s very good for us as well, everything’s fully paid up, incentives for promotion for them as well.”
I’m hoping that means the loan is good for Cardiff in the sense we’re covering the full wages and there are loan fees, rather than there being a very good permanent deal NW is talking about...
I’ll have a £20 charity get with you then?It really does. I bet you any money you want this fucks us up and we will not finish top 6.
Aye, like when Cardiff famously signed madine in January and missed out on the top 6.It really does. I bet you any money you want this fucks us up and we will not finish top 6.
Confirmed by Warnock. Just after the four minute mark here.
Also refers to us as 'Sheffield'...

Of course, wherever we finish it can’t clearly be determined that it was down to Madine.
But fucking your season up would be more likely defined by selling a player, not actually adding an option. I get it that you don’t like the signing, but claiming that it derails us is just hyperbole.
I’ve no doubt that Wilder has squared this with the players, especially Sharp.I will take that. But there is no way he glides into S2 and gets on with football. Sharp may say it's OK but he hates him, so do the fans, so do most people. He's a cunt, in fact he's a super cunt. Wilder is getting this one wrong.
