But DO hold a privileged position, are incredibly compensated, and idolised in the public eye. More than any nurse, teacher etc could ever hope to be. Surely that should count for something? I do think you are being fair. And against my better nature, I'm being pragmatic. Because I think this sport we love is utterly corrupted with money. There is nothing that can justify the wages top footballers get, plus the fawning adulation afforded them.

That's what has bugged me about this whole affair, the outrage that he might play for us.. but it's football, shit like this that happens. It's a fact that if he rocks up (I hope not, but if he's signed, then he will) and contributes to the team, then most concerns will be forgotten. That is the hypocrisy of all this (not aimed at you, but in general).

I am increasingly disengaged from the higher levels of football. I've spent my afternoon watching semi-pros knocking the ball about on a cabbage patch and then retiring to the bar where they had sausage and chips and beer. Lads who just turn out to play football.

The Blades are currently blessed with good role models, Billy being the best example. If Madine wishes to contribute, he needs to prove himself. If he doesn't? Then that's the shame he will need to carry. Redemption is a virtue. I'm not overly optimistic, but I am a glass half full sort of person.

i cant be arsed to go through this entire thread suffice to say heres my view on the issues raised about him that ive seen on various social media posts etc

we cant sign him hes an ex-pig - leon, bromby, quinn (both of them), geary that puts that to bed
he hit a blade/wendy fan - so what many of us have got into scrapes when younger and drunk and were lucky to get away with it he didnt was caught and punished, the same people trotting this out were the same people backing Evans even before his conviction had been quashed, i mean we had Marlon King FFS and i cant rember a 40 odd page thread about him and his many misdemeanours (sexual assault etc).

he called billy a name - so effin what, dont you think CW had talked to billy (his most senior player and captain) about this potential apppointment ?
he celebrated when he scored in front of us - Shithousing is annoying when your on the receiving end but brilliant when youre giving it ( see dean hendersons antics)
