Are they really some fans who'd rather recall 'super ched' then buy real quality?(which we probably won't anyway) Injury prone is Ched

No, where has anybody said that? But we generally do struggle to sign “real quality” up front, and Ched offers something different off the bench, like the ability to shoot from distance, so rather him than nothing.

Reading the posts from August I'm rather worried the view some fans have on a league one striker. All our strikers won't be good enough next season

He has scored more league goals so far this season than a certain Jordan Rhodes who cost - HOW MUCH.....

Whether he comes back or we sell him every goal is good for our club.

I just think we need to move on from 'super ched' and start aiming higher. He's also always injured.

Decent finish from Ched but I don't see Ched as a likely option to come back in January. I can only see Ched returning if we can't get in the players Wilder really wants up there. Wilder has already said Ched is going to stay at fleetwood I recall. I just hope Ched does well for himself and earns himself a decent move to a bigger club than Fleetwood this summer to play out his career, as I sadly don't see a return for him here. Not at the level we're now at and Ched will be 30 in a few weeks.

I think the problem here is that those who rate Ched, think too much of the past and over rate/ exaggerate his abilities. Then there’s those that can’t get past the court case and don’t want him regardless so just say he’s crap.

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I’d probably put him on a similiar level to Clayton Donaldson, high league 1 standard to low Championship standard.

So agree he could do a job coming on from the bench but it would be underwhelming if we brought him back and a promotion challenging team should be aiming higher than someone of Cheds standard especially considering he”s injury prone. Of course I’d still support him and Wilder if they decided for him to return.

Nail on head.

I Hope he continues to do well for them for many years....

Has any player ever been signed based on forum threads?

I meant not to get him back from loan. So meaning our fans, rather than another club.

No idea where sign him came from! I was pretty tired when I wrote that haha.

I think he’d do fine elsewhere if he stayed in league one. I just think we have an incredibly together team that works for each other and a set of fans who’ve really bought into what they and the manager are doing. He’s no where near good enough to risk undermining that.

From what I understand, ched is well liked within the squad

I still think it would divide everyone, as evidenced on here. Maybe not inside the squad, although we don’t know what they all think. Add in the extra publicity, scrutiny and pressure, I think it’d be really tough for him.

Add that to the fact he hasn’t played at this level for years, I don’t think it’s ever going to work out for him here.

If anyone needs a reason not to sign him, it’s because he’s an incredibly divisive figure.

Don't think his presence has been "incredibly divisive" since he was cleared. After serving two and a half years or a crime he didn't commit, he really should have the chance to play wherever he likes now without anyone calling his presence "divisive". If Wilder takes another look in the New Year or the summer and thinks Ched is worth a squad number, we should just accept it. I imagine he's not getting a hard time from any fans at Fleetwood, and he should be treated the same at the Lane.

Every thread is 10 pages and mixed with support and outrage.

Aside from anything else, he’s not good enough at this level and 2.5 years in the slammer haven’t exactly helped.

I really don’t see the fascination. We can do better.

I don't know anyone who's outraged that he's at SUFC following his aquittal. Say he isn't good enough by all means, but this thread isn't full of people saying he shouldn't play for the Blades because he's divisive. It's only you as far as I can tell.

How can you say that he's not good enough? His 2.5 years in the slammer was what, 3 seasons ago? He has done well for chesterfield and fleetwood, but with lots of injuries.

He's gone away to Fleetwood in the division below and is scoring plenty of goals (7 goals in 15 games). We could question whether he would get into our side and has enough all round for what we need right now, given that Wilder doesn't seem to be giving fringe players a lot of game time, instead sticking to reliable and consistent players even if they are out of form.

The question remains whether he's fit enough and whether he'd get enough game time at United.

Will he be back at United in Jan? I think its less likely, my assumption is that he will come back or be released/ sold in the summer.

As I've said a few times, my cod mates have said all season (aside from the 1st game where they slated him) that he's looked a class above for them but they don't have enough quality around him to make it pay. He has had two different injuries in the last couple of months which have kept him out which is worrying when you consider he had a fair few injuries with us when he was at his peak (and that was 7 years ago) and his fitness has been an issue ever since he came back into the game.

That aside, would he be challenging for a squad place if he was with us now and the answer is probably no. Given that we're looking at bringing in 1 maybe 2 in that position in January, I doubt we'll ever see him in a Blades shirt again.

My admiration for your stoic belief as per your concluding sentence is matched only by my certainty that we won't.

I've seen us miss numerous chances this season where we have hit it straight at the keeper or the shot has been powderpuff. Ive said to my mate if that was Ched he would have leathered it and scored. I honestly think if he played regularly for us in this current side he would be our top scorer no problem.
