Win and what? They are expecting it, the bookies are expecting it, they are in turmoil and for once, a defeat against us is more likely to be met with a 'couldn't care at the moment' response. It might even end up being welcomed in a way, if it means Chancer making changes that they think will rescue their season.
A defeat on the other hand.....furkinell, could you imagine them if they beat us after what they've seen other teams do to them recently?
Not looking forward to this one at all.
Please tell me I'm wrong.

Youre wrong :D

Don't let them talk you into it. They remember last year when they could have won. And their never ending arrogance means that, on paper (lol), in their heads they are still better than us

Totally disagree.
Fuck what state they're in. That's got nothing to do with anything.
It's a Sheffield derby end of.
Smash the bastards and accelerate their demise. Have bragging rights. Give every Blade a huge boost and early Xmas present. 3 vital points.
There's no such thing as a no win derby. Total euphoria for the winner and total depression and misery for the loser.
Let's batter the bastards.

Stop being dramatic, win and it will hurt them regardless of their status on or off the pitch, imagine losing a game what ment your city rivals went back top of the league.

Lose and we are still in the playoffs, many of us would of snatched your hands off at the beginning of the season to finish in them.

Long way to go our season will not be made or broken over this one game.

It always means the same but their shocking result today is quite an ideal way for them to go into it. They've surely bottomed out and have to respond. The other effect is that we're expected to roll them over. Which will consequently make our fans even more quiet and nervous.

I can see a very similar game to the last one at Bramall Lane. Edgy, scrappy and tight with expectant fans waiting for goals that might not come... especially if Duffy's out.

We went into the first derby last season on the back of a 1-0 defeat though so hopefully that bodes well..... the incentive of going top if we win on the other hand.... well, we don't usually take such opportunities do we? That would seem a bit too good to be true.

It's all reverse psychology, don't fall for any of it.
They will be pig sick if we beat them and they will be delighted if they beat us
I for one will be delighted with a scruffy 1-0 win
I will be ecstatic with anything better than that

But I honestly think that what Norwich have done to them today won't work in our favour, they quite simply have to respond to that if they have any pride at all.

What have they to be proud of at Mr Chansari FC?

On Dec 26 1979, 4 of us set off for the game at the sty - in the car were 3 blades and 1 owl (my brother in law)

We all agreed that the table topping Blades would win easily...………..
As a chabby still in school , me (Blade ) my dad and younger brother ( both pigs RIP Andy and Da ) got on the coach from Felbrig pub in Norfolk park , we all thought Blades would win , we all know and had been living that horrible day since last September ,
Take nothing for granted , always fear the worst in these games .

Exactly this. They're in disarray at the moment and all United have to do is play their normal game, there will be no better opportunity to finally lay the ghost to rest. Duffy and Bash will be back too. All they've got to pin their hopes on is some no mark smashing one in from 40 yards and that's not good enough for a game plan.

If we go into it thinking we just have to turn up we will lose.

I will be very surprised of there more than one goal between the sides on Friday.

Spare a thought for my cousin Mick (in the car), he couldn't get a ticket for the Leppers Lane end so went on their kop with my Piggy Bro in Law

Not a word of it. Unless you’re comparing it to a play off final or an fa cup semi its as important as any other derby.

Theyre shitting themselves and its very important to them that they dont ever see their team get utterly pasted by Sheffield United.

Loads of them will say thats not true, they’re liars

Even if we won 5-0 it wouldn't count as a special result because it wasn't on boxing day, it isn't an 11.00 kick off and it wasn't against a team that were favourites to win.
Coupled with the fact that in the villages of Bradfield, Outibridge, Stocksbridge, Chapeltown and Grenoside it won't have actually happened

Just play our normal game, if we can do that we should be ok
If we don't, or can't, well then we could be in trouble because the chances of keeping a clean sheet against the Dog & Duck are fairly slim let alone another professional football team

Of course it will have happened, it will even have happened in Runcorn.

“would have”. ‘Of’ is not a verb.

Let’s not let standards slip just because we’ve lost :)

Let’s just draw then, drop 2 points, fall further behind Norwich and let Wednesday carry on with their manager for a week.

Come on mate, it’s a derby. There’s no such thing as a no-win match, let alone a no-win derby.

I'm not saying I don't want to win mate. I just feel we'd need to win about 70-0 to be able to 'give it to them'
Maybe I didn't express myself well enough. Nowt new there then!

Are you fucking INSANE!??
If we beat them 5-0 it will be sang about for the next 100 years!
Do you think when our grandkids look back on it they will say "they were on a bad run of form and lost 4-0 the week before though"?

What a weird way of thinking, how pessimistic can you be? Let's get them battered.
