There'll be at least one disappointed Blade tonight, I can't recall his boardname, but he was on here a few days ago saying he'd be happy for us to stay behind the leaders at the top of the table and "keep our powder dry" until after Christmas. (Like we were going to sneak up on the teams at the top or something - and like they hadn't noticed us already). I bet he's gutted tonight.

To be fair he did say that and I pulled him up on it, at which point he explained that he meant 'keeping the powder dry' with regards to holding onto our transfer pot instead of upping the ante to get a target, I think he was specifically looking at the Waghorn farce. There'll be at least one disappointed Blade tonight
Yes I do know what you mean. Everybody wants to beat the top of the league. I think that extra motivation is only momentarily though. Once a game is underway it’s 11 v 11 and both teams are all out to win (mostly!). Admittedly some come just not to lose.I can understand it to some degree, every week at the top you're there to be shot at, every team gives a little bit more. Some won't be good enough to beat you, but some with that extra motivation will
I'd be more concerned about playing Wendy if we were top of the League than I would if we were third or fourth, it's just a strange feeling I can't explain.
However, we can't go losing a game or two here and there just so that we can stay third or fourth
Ah ok, that’s fair enough then.To be fair he did say that and I pulled him up on it, at which point he explained that he meant 'keeping the powder dry' with regards to holding onto our transfer pot instead of upping the ante to get a target, I think he was specifically looking at the Waghorn farce.
I agree - points on the board and let everybody else worry about how to deal with United.Ah ok, that’s fair enough then.
It just gets my back up a bit when fans don’t want us to be top. It’s the best place to be without any shadow of doubt. To say otherwise is plain idiotic.
Just what came in to my mind when I saw the thread title.
My girlfriend used to play her brother's Dave Clark Five records when I went to her house.
We've now been married 41 yrs
