If we lose tomorrow and beat Hull it's not the end of the world.....

Needs to shuffle the team a bit tomorrow. Lundstram, Clarke and Washington anyone?

Need a shuffle, but would you shuffle tomorrow or Saturday?

You would think that Saturday is the easier game so i would be inclined to play same XI vs Blackburn then go v Hull as follows:

Henderson
Basham - Stearman - O'Connell
Baldock - Lundstram - Fleck - Johnson
Woodburn
Clarke - Sharp

Whoever steps out has a chance of squashing a 23 game unbeaten record at home, oh and possibly going top of the league. Tremendous motivators there and talk about sending a message to other teams.
Just go for it lads.

A draw would be very decent too, providing we beat Hull.

I'm sure players used to play 2 games a week without a problem....
They did this in days gone by and smoked / drank etc. Now they are supposed to be finely tuned athletes.
Players can still play 2 matches a week, and train intensively for the other 5 days if need be. However, if player A plays 2 matches in a week, and comes up against player B who has only played 1, all other things being equal, player B will tend to perform to a higher standard than player A.

If we draw, i have the table like this:

Lose, like this:

Win, like this:

Here's my predictions for the midweek fixtures:

They did. People also thought the world was flat and put asbestos into houses.

Footballers also used to finish their careers before 30...

The answer then is we should have bought player B before the fuckin window shut.

I know... fuck Wednesday, and, what have they got to do with us etc etc, but

If Wednesday lose, I'd take a draw Wednesday.

With the squad we have there is no reason whatsoever for Lundstram to be starting any game.

And that would be 6 changes. that's silly. We made four against Birmingham and looked lost.

Don't understand the hatred towards Lundstram. But Hull are shit. We could beat them like this:

I agree with all these except Woodburn. Nothing I've seen so far suggests he is remotely ready for the starting 11. I'd be inclined to start Norwood instead with Lundstram sitting deeper and Fleck as the most advanced of the three.

Strongest team for Blackburn would be good to take their unbeaten home record away , if anyone's blowing out their arse v Hull sub em. Remember when we went to Oldham and smashed their 38ish? unbeaten home record. I think it was on artificial grass.
Correct, around 91/92 season I think :-)

And how will we ever know unless he gets a chance? So far when he's played we've been in terrible positions in the game, hardly ideal opportunity to make a mark when you can't even get the ball.

Winder admitted after Birmingham that he made too many changes, so doubt we will see many, if at all any v Blackburn.

Egans' forehead cut looked quite bad after Millwall - he might be an absenteeism, but hope not.

Can see Clarke coming in up top for Mcgoldrick or Billy.

Would ideally like our A team v Blackburn, then reassess for Hull at home. Injuries/knocks might make Wilders mind up.

Surely - one game at a time - lets get a result and move on. Without doubt, lets try and get 3 points FIRST, then decide about Hull.

Why? That particular XI has won every game it's played.

I'm being devil's advocate, but maybe they've won every game they've played because they've been suitably rested at other times.

I do generally agree with you though. Whilst the marginal fitness gains from a rest can certainly make a difference, there are also huge benefits from the confidence and momentum that comes with a stable team that knows what it's doing. The very best managers have an intuition about when and how to keep everyone fresh without affecting the balance and stability of the core team.

I’m happy to defer to Wilder’s expertise here. Particularly given how our performance fell away in the final parts of last season.

Oli Norwood doesn’t get a break, he’ll no doubt have 2 games with Northern Ireland. To a lesser extent, the same can be said of Enda and Egan

That's true, but that can be worried about after the international break.

Play the strongest team v Blackburn, look what happened when we made 5 changes v Birmingham

Any clues as to what he's done to lessen our chances for this game?
