He's a Championship player - he will have some qualities at that level, but given he couldn't get in our side when he was here, is he someone we really need to fear? If one of the agreements of the deal was that he plays against us and we get £1.4m for him, which may/may not go towards paying for Norwood then I can't really see where we've gone wrong here. Should we never sell anyone to any Championship team?

We should never allow our loanees to play against us.

We might have come out of the summer well with Norwood. Leonard might not be the greatest player and biggest danger to us. But neither are the point. We've allowed Millwall to be stronger for this game, when on deadline day they were desperate for Leonard and we weren't (or shouldn't have been) desperate to sell.

We've allowed Millwall to be stronger for this game, when on deadline day they were desperate for Leonard and we weren't (or shouldn't have been) desperate to sell.

You're right - we weren't desperate to sell, but we got Norwood and Johnson, so Wilder wasn't really bothered about keeping Leonard as an almost permanent sub, so he sold at a decent price and got a surplus wage off the salary bill.
If you think Leonard is better than Saville, then Millwall might be stronger - but it doesn't seem as if many Blades fans think that.
Otherwise it would be interesting to hear the EFL's response to trying to get a loan-permanent player bbanned from playing against the side that have actually discarded him

You have to remember Ricky genuinely believed at one point that his knowledge of the game and United in particular, would assist new United managers - the professionals - with their assessment of the players. He's wound his neck in a bit since then but it's easy to see he'd rather be right - or thinking he's right, see "spineless" - during the game than be concerned we're losing.

He got a good assist and we grabbed a win in the 90th minute. So it worked out fine, but the way some on here are going on and on and fucking on about it you'd think Leonard had a stinker and contributed massively to our win. That wasn't the case.

The Ben Brereton case is one I'm sure will sail well beneath the radar of the Ideal Blades.

I was annoyed we were losing, and the circumstances exacerbated that. Simple. You probably think I was disappointed with the late winner as well don't you?

The fact that he's mentioned by name constantly says it all, we played an offside trap for some reason and fudged it and left a massive hole for a pass which a Millwall player put the ball into, and another Millwall player scored it. Which Millwall players doesn't matter, Leonard isn't a maestro, it was a good pass, but long balls through are Millwall's bread and butter aren't they? Sure whoever else would have played was equally able.

Personally I'd put it down to mind games from Wilder, a club mentality of letting people get on with their careers once they've left never to return, and the fact that whatever damage he could do to us would be off the field as much as on it, tactically etc, unless we made him sign an NDA.

And yeah you're going to be arguing for a while if you want the club to send you a copy of Leonard's contract so you can check the terms haha

What makes sense is that not a single Blade can read the manager's thoughts, and his reasons for moving someone on, plus any unwritten reasons that make a move a good one for the club, are the manager's and his alone. If the player was unhappy about his future, whether he'd be playing regularly any time soon etc etc, then only the manager and Leonard can answer that question. As for need, again, if the manager felt it was a good move then let his decision be judged on results such as yesterday.

You support United your way, by knocking the club everytime something doesn't suit you, including during a game , and I'll support them mine. ie having a moan about what has happened as opposed to what could have happened.
