You just can’t stop yourself can you? No matter what anyone says you just can’t see the wood for the trees. As for Slew, I’ve already said it was tongue in cheek and aimed at you because you said we should just sign somebody regardless. But i don’t think your clever enough to grasp that

A good attitude to have when posting on here.

As a little game, how do you think United would finish in each scenario:
Sign a 'tier 1' striker (Wells, Wickham, Hemed)
Sign a 'tier 2' striker (Hogan, Gallagher, Bradshaw)
Sign a 'tier 3' striker (K Moore, Devante Cole)
Sign nobody.

I'm going to say 4th-7th, 5th-10th, 8th-15th, 10th-16th, respectively.

I think Moore is miles better than Devante Cole, Devante Cole is Lavery tier...

But I'd say if we signed Wells or Hemed we'd have finished 6th at best, 8th at worst.
A fit Scott Hogan sits in that bracket too for me.

Gallagher or Bradshaw? I'd say upper mid table.

If we signed Moore I'd say just below mid table.

When the games start piling up at Christmas if we only have 3 we're going to hugely struggle.
 
Sam McQueen has joined Boro. He is a left sided midfielder/wing back. Surely opens up Marvin Johnson to sign for us now.

The only true ITK on our messageboards is Richard Cadette. And tbf Treeton is partial to good info.

If injuries piled up, I could see up playing with 1 up front and two attacking midfielders, which I don't think would be the end of the world - I take your point though that it's far from ideal.

My point of view is that after the doom and gloom in the closed season, if someone offered me the squad as it stands now, with Wilder still in charge, I would have probably taken it.

I think as well we have to accept that with the current level of investment, promotion would be a minor miracle - I personally don't think that's a 'fault' of the owners, it's just the reality - considering, as fans, we have no control over who owns the club; we should just get behind the players we've got rather than getting angry if worst comes to worst and we don't sign anyone.

I don't disagree. And the competition at the top end of the championship is very tough.

But with the bid for Waghorn and subsequently (despite for some reason people on here not rating them who'd be the first to big them up were we linked) good championship strikers going elsewhere in the division it would be very very disappointing at best.

It's a good point you make about the Waghorn bid; I understand why the club might not want to waste that money on a loan, but you would asume we'd move on to other permanent targets.

Exactly. And I don't buy into for one second that the only permanent player we could afford who would've improved us was Martyn Waghorn either.

Maybe we’ll just have to bite the bullet and pay a little bit over the odds for a striker? It could really be the difference between the playoffs and mid table this season.

It could also be a shocking misuse of resources which leaves us in no better a position and potless if we have to sort it out. Get the one we want or don’t bother. That’s my view.
