The squad is looking scarily thin, especially considering we have 3 on loan already.

There is a chance of a couple of injuries or suspensions leaving us deeply in the sticky brown smelly stuff, and I don't mean chocolate mousse.

It will be interesting to see who if anybody we get in on loan in the near future. There might be a master plan cunningly in operation, but if there is it's very well hidden.

i agree we are low on numbers, however we dont have another match until the 12th, by which time the loan window is open. Blackwell will have 4 days to bring additional players in on loan. He's already said that he has a striker and defender that he will be furthering discussion with when this opens.

for me we arent in it yet, although i accept that we could be at some point

You forgot Quinn. I thought that the match day squad has to include 4 or 5 home grown players? That leaves 13 or 14 places for non home grown players. This season we have had Monty, Quinn, Walker and Sharp (do the last two count?) Sharp has gone and we need at least one more home grown player to be in our squad for the next game

Our squad isn't really any smaller than the rest of the teams in this division, its just looks smaller on the programmes because we dont give all the youth/reserve players shirt numbers like others do....

Does that mean the players have to be developed by us, or just in this country? If its in this country, whats the problem nearly all our squad is english/british.

The crucial phrase is this:

"At least four players in every 16-man match-day squad will have to have been registered domestically for at least three years before their 21st birthday. "

Which, as far as I can see, means only that each club must have 4 players in their match day squad who have played in England for at least 3 years prior to their 21st birthday - they don't even have to be English, never mind developed by the club they play for.

The only player registered with United who wouldn't fit that criteria is Haber.

Why should we worry about having 7 players on the bench when we can only use a maximum of three? At a pinch, four should be enough (keeper, one defender, one midfielder and one striker).
