How did Woodburn play?

In my humble opinion yes he was, given he had been with the team for one day he fitted in like a dream and until the penalty miss I don't think he put a foot wrong. Woodburn on the other hand looked nervous, showed a few glimpses of his undoubted class but never really got going. UTB

How did Woodburn play?

To my untrained eye he played well, doing the simple things well & trying to be both expansive and progressive with his passing and movement. He always seemed to have time & space, which is a good sign. He also had a few shots, which was a pleasant change. I was aware of him as a player, but didn’t know much about him. From last night’s performance, we look to have signed a good player. He’s a 7/10 to Evans 5.5/10. Respect to CW for acquiring his services. My only concern is that we perhaps need a spoiler in midfield to complement the passers, but we’ll see.

I thought that Woodburn flitted in & of the game, and had a better 1st half than 2nd. He’s still finding his feet, although some of his touches & passes are top quality. You can tell that he’s had a good footballing education and has ability. My fear is that he becomes Brooks v.2, no matter his talents, that he becomes a round peg in a square hole, but again we’ll see as it’s still early days.

Sharp was very good as well last night, he looks slimmer and more mobile than last season, and I did him a disservice saying that his legs had gone/were going. He’s not played 180 minutes in the last two games, but has scored 2 and a pen. It needs to be him & A.N. Other on the team sheet at the moment.

I thought that the sale of Evans reeked of panic & left us short, but if it meant that it allowed us to bring in Norwood (on last night’s showing), it’s a master stroke. Hopefully we’ve already agreed a purchase price, or I’ll be moaning come season’s end!
