Friendlies? Training? You have to draw a line somewhere. Given that we aren't going to win a cup for a while, league goals are the ones that matter.
Surely competitive games of any kind count

On the basis that Clarke appears both undroppable AND unsubbable, I would respectfully request that it does matter.
If you have any level of passion and commitment to the cause, it matters a lot !!
In fact I’d go as far as to say getting this right is centric to our success in the league this season.

Poor show that Pinchy. Making a bet and then changing the terms of it.
The bet was clearly that Sharp won’t score “ten more goals in a Blades shirt”.
No mention of league goals only
Agreed. It doesn’t matter in the sense that they both shouldn’t be more than squad players at this stage of their careers.
We need two new first choice strikers in my opinion.
Competitive league and cup fixtures is where the line is always drawn unless specified. Which you didn’t.
Well. he was in the right place at the right time for his goal. That's vital. It's a real talent and not to be underestimated. He contributed very little apart from that. He rarely does. Consistently.
I don't know why people think Leon is keeping Billy out of the team as they are different types of players. Billy is a box player & Leon is an all rounder. They don't play the same & they have different roles. Chris has said this over & over again it's not rocket science. I believe not grasping this is why a few fans are so spiteful to Leon. It will be interesting when the new striker is here whether he's a box player or an all rounder.I think Billy can chip in with goals. And would be useful depending on the game and the time. I don't think he's a nailed on starter. However I think he has an important role to play, either like today starting or off the bench. Billy doesn't suit all situations is what I'm getting at, but is a very useful tool in the squad.

Leon when not in any sort of form, never gets dropped unless injured.
Billy goes a game or two without scoring and is dropped instantly.
That is why people are comparing them both. Everyone is fully aware they are different types of striker but it doesn't mean they shouldn't be dropped when they are well out of form.
Yes, it’s interesting that the terms have changed so quickly – I take it as a sign of worry. I’m happy to let it go, as personally I do think he will score 10 more league goals for us.
So logic must dictate that Wilder (who’s opinion is really the only one that matters) believes that Clarke brings more to the overall team performance than Sharp does.
This ain’t Pele we’re talking about! No one is going to start counting goals in the back garden against his kids!![]()
He doesn't when he is out of form though. You just have a striker wandering around low on confidence and not offering that much.
You're not very neatly swerving his point...
Leon, categorically IS keeping Billy out the side.I don't know why people think Leon is keeping Billy out of the team as they are different types of players. Which is where yours (and Wilders) logic becomes, bluntly, illogical !,So logic must dictate that Wilder (who’s opinion is really the only one that matters) believes that Clarke brings more to the overall team performance than Sharp does.
I'm simply trying to make it meaningful. The thought of losing twenty quid on a couple of fun bets does not keep me awake at night. Surely you wouldn't want Billy to stumble over the line with a couple in the Under 23s?![]()

I think you missed the point of my comment. Wilder obviously believes that he does.
I did respond to his point actually. Troll.
You didn't, Bladey Bill. His point was that the manager takes that view. You merely repeated your own. By coincidence LJ has just responded in exactly the same way. Your description of a striker wandering around not offering much fits Sharp, when not scoring, exactly. That's why he was rightly dropped by the same manager who made him captain. It was a lot more than a game or two and it was like playing with ten men.
Anyone that thinks Sharp has somehow proved a major point today is Bladey barmy.
I just think he has a blind spot for Clarke and Stevens for that matter. Both have deserved to be dropped due to poor form.
Players need a bit of a break and I think its a lot to ask of Clarke to start every match when he isn't quite cutting it.
I expect strikers to score goals. Sharp did his job today. Troll.
None of the front 3 are regular, 46 game players, in this division. McGoldrick went off injured, which has fucked us even more, Clarke can’t be arsed, so Billy is the man for the season. Is he good enough to play 43 more games. I’m sorry I have to say no.
If I may just interject on this, nobody has mentioned under 23 goals. What has been said is that competitive goals should count (i.e. goals in the league, league cup or FA Cup). That doesn’t seem that difficult to understand.
As a previous discussion on this very point that I posted in May 2018, based on season 2017/2018 individual performance, Sharp’s all round performance is technically, visably and statistically superior to Leon’s in 11 out of 13 KPIs. Comparable, measurable and meaningful KPIs that is. For a striker this does not mean interceptions, etc.It might be better if you actually described what you think Sharp brings to the team in terms of all round performance, instead of making snide remarks.
You may also notice that I haven’t actually put forward such an opinion but don’t let that stop you.
