CONFIRMED Lee Evans to Wigan on loan to perm

The bizzare thing is not his leaving, it's the meltdown on this thread.

1) it's perfectly possible for him to be happy at SUFC but also interested when an offer comes in and happy to move.
2) he has been heavily criticised by a lot of fans and I doubt he isn't aware of any of it. He will know that once that builds to a certain point his time with us will be effectively over, whereas he appears to be well liked at Wigan.
3) just because he's in Wilder's first 11 doesn't mean he is irriplaceable, in fact he will be looking over his shoulder at the imminent return of Coutts, knowing that he will take one of the midfield slots.
4) first team players are more likely to be made offers for than squad players or bench warmers.
5) you don't have to have someone coming in to move someone out who isn't key, isn't performing and who is happy to move on.
6) he simply hasn't performed to a standard that we need, for whatever reason that may be. Another offer at a later date may not come.

I'm not to unhappy about his departure,he was given a fair chance but hasn't taken it for me.
Doesn't do enough,slows down attacks,takes the easy option...ineffective for the most part.
I'll remember him for those 2 great strikes v Boro...I'm sure there's a potential player in there,and no hard feelings,wish him well apart from when he plays against us...Looking forward to seeing who Chris brings in on loan along wirh the return of Coutts not to far away.

Just presuming but I reckon a bid was left on the table for Evans from Wigan, Norwood had been made available by Brighton, we've looked at that and thought "good player, improvement on Evo and Lunny", then made an offer to Brighton (maybe loan with view of making permanent), Brighton accept offer today, so we decide to accept offer for Evans. Unable to get one or the other done before the deadline or an uncertainty on whether we could definitely get Norwood in so pulled the plug on the Evans deal but now that's back on because Wigan will sign him on loan with view to make permanent and we'll be signing Oli Norwood on loan to perm to replace him.

There we're reports this morning of an unnamed club beating Hull and Leeds to Norwood's signature, again presume that will be us.

Was near enough spot on then.

Seems to me that he never wanted to leave Wigan but Wolves wanted our cash, he was relatively happy here, but always had one eye on going back to Wigan from his comments.

He'll probably play better at Wigan, being with people he knows and likes more than us haha, so can't wait for the meltdowns.

Two months then he'll be up there with Quinny as one of the best players we've ever had.

Think everyone on here would agree that Evans and Lundstrum aren't effective together.

People might differ on opinion on which one of them is better and worth keeping but for me it's lundstrum.

I would say lundstrum is better at going forward, more likely to get a goal or assist, has a better range of passing, is physically stronger and has a better range of passing. I would also say lundstrum is more of a leader / mentally tougher and of the two is the more likely to improve.

Evans just didn't look physically or mentally strong enough for me. For the time being I think a midfield 3 of lundstrum fleck and duffy is an improvement on the first two games of the season.

Seems to be a common tactic for people who have zero excuses left in the box and yes, I'll be quite happy to 'crawl under my rock' if we 'win a few games'. I mean … is that 'win a few games' before Christmas, or turn the bus round and get nine from nine over the next three fixtures.

Which (in your global expertise) do you think is most likely on merit of a 1-2 reverse at home and a capitulation away at the Riverside, S5?

I've seen Evans do two good things in a red and white shirt thus far since he's been there and fortunately it was into the net right under the BLUT where I was sat. Glad I was there for that. Apart from that, he's not really filled one of Coutts's boots, nor his carpet slipper.

Aye, but Bash is only good as a midfielder if he's not down as a midfielder in the lineup. If you start him in midfield, he ends up being swiftly bypassed and starts with the clumsy stuff.

I replied to your suggestion that CW may be covering up a bust up, I assumed you meant either between Evans and one or more of the other players, or Evans and Wilder. Which, if that’s the case, should be kept in house.

I think it’s reasonable for me to interpret that, given that’s more or less what you wrote when you called Wilder a liar.

Now you’re going on about ‘upstairs’. That’s a classic troll diversionary tactic, one that I’m far too familiar with. So I’m not going to bother engaging with you further, life’s too short to pander to WUMs.

Why does everything have to be “A player is great or a player is shit”.

Evans is neither of those things.
He nearly always had OK type of games for us, he was pretty consistent, then you realised that his style of play is very safe.
He focuses on keeping possession and plays lots of short sideways and backwards passes.
He was OK for us, but generally underwhelming so I’m not sad to see him go.

Lundstrum has a totally different style, he’s more dynamic and more expansive trying more difficult longer range passing. He runs with the ball, tackles and tries to shots (which he rarely scores).
He is inconsistent, he tends to have great spells and mistake ridden poor spells all within the same game.
Lundstrum has more potential than Evans and could be a real player and big asset for us.
However so far he’s flattered to deceive, really frustrating because he has talent but he’s not quite there yet.
It’s a big season for Lundstrum, if he doesn’t show signs of making the grade then he needs to ply his trade at a lower level.
Wouldn’t surprise me though if he went to another club, then went on to be a star once he gets his confidence going.
