Said Brooks money had not been touched the other day - so reading between the lines - it is going back into the club then to cover deficits if we have no funds to spend on transfers as per interview from CW tonight.

Least it saves us all coming on this rumours page every day - as we know now no one is coming in.

Fucking hell. 2 bids and 2 loan bids all get rejected then?

I never heard Wilder actually say that. He said we have a couple of bids in - guess one was the permanent one for Waghorn and maybe the other was a loan that now has gone elsewhere or we cannot afford. I nver directly heard it was 2 bids and 2 loans.

So nobody coming in. Same old United. We would have been better off holding onto Brooks - under contract - should not have to sell. As nowe we have the funds but will be swallowed up into running the club - like every other big sale we have made in the past. Has anyone ever known United make a big sale and spend all that money? My Dad and his Dad as right. A selling club with no ambition that will always get rid of its best players.

Good lad. I want the names of ALL the possibles.

And I want you to tell me Luke Freeman's signing...
I was going to keep quiet but it appears Chris has shown his cards tonight anyway, confirming that if we get anything over the line it will be loans.

This seasons buzzword is "Wages".

Heard more-or-less the same thing, didn't want to add fuel to the fire after Saturday and I'm surprised that Wilder has come out tonight and spilled beans.

I think he will regret the comment "not even touched the Brooks money" it insinuated that it was his to spend.

Who’s available on loan though?

There’s will be a lot of completion so it’s gonna end up being some unproven PL youth player presumably?

Why not take a punt on a league 1/2 player if that’s the case - We’d at least profit in any upside.

More and more reasons why we should actually look outside of the 4 professional leagues in this country to try and improve our squad.

Confirmed then. All we have left to hope for is winning the least shit team in Sheffield competition. Let's hope there are 3 worse teams.

I had been quite positive about our transfer business up until now. Losing Brooks was disappointing but on the hope of using at least some of the money it was tolerable and I liked how we had balanced payments for permanents and loanees. But I was expecting at least one more big signing and now it seems we need two or three perhaps, to kick us on.

To some up in one word..........arsebiscuits.

I genuinely thought with Wilder staying and Brooks going it meant we had a competitive budget. Nothing huge but enough to improve. Unfortunately we seemed to have totally overlooked the fact that the Championship standard players we have been in for will want more money than the ones we have at the club who have mostly been plucked from League One clubs. I just hope it's some sort of smokescreen because I just can't get my head around why anybody at the club thought we could attract the players we have been in for without offering them a wage that would break our wage structure.

It's tough to be in our position as we don't want to bring players in on twice as much as the players already here and It's not about throwing money around. If you can't afford to raise the wage bill then you have good plan how best to utilise the funds you do have in the way Brentford and Preston do. I'm not sure if anybody can genuinely say we have done that as it stands.

If we genuinely cannot get any more Champ level players in during this season due to fees & wages then tbh we may as well just spunk some of our budget on lifting the existing ceiling and giving our current squad a decent pay rise. I know many won't welcome that based on tonight's performance but it at least keeps the likes of JOC, Fleck, Coutts, Duffy, Baldock, Freeman etc happier in the short term and next season we have our wage ceiling nearer towards the going rate.

Other than that Chris just may as well take a punt on league 1 and 2 players again, as he jokingly suggested. Why the fuck not? It's largely worked so far and we really do need a couple of bodies into this attack. Some cocky bugger who wants to prove himself in a higher league might not be a bad option really.

So selling David Brooks was an absolutely terrible idea then.

I'm shocked.

What a complete and utter fuck up this window has been.

And it's not the board who are to blame.

That's not a bad shout at all. It's going to have to happen at some point though it could be a big risk if we end up going down again which is certainly not unthinkable.

Yes, that is the risk.

I am an optimist [fuck knows why sometimes] so still hope this is just a very ropey start.

Big performance needed v QPR. Even if we lose, it's no big deal at this stage provided we see the team we know and love again.

It worked to get us out of L1, just like McCabe hanging onto the squad that got us into the PL waiting for investment or tv money the next year. If you get promoted you have to cut the worst out and improve not keep buying cheap options in the hope you'll find another brooks. Cause if we do find another brooks we will sell.

We can't step up from Aldi to Waitrose and expect to keep the same shopping budget but get better products. McCabe and Wilder have the same dinasour mentality on buying players and in their heads are the words ''e by gum lad tha' should be proud 't play ont oldest professional ground int world' shit. Wilst in the players heads they are thinking ' I want a big car, house, wag and lifestyle like that thick twat Rooney' and other clubs will pay me my worth in today's football market

Well another pacey player slips through the net, Usain Bolt has gone to West Coast Mariners. He was worth a punt just for the entertainment value.

Totally agree ricky.

Who were the other two strikers we bid for?

What about Patrick Roberts
Bern really I.pressed with him for Celtic or is he out of our reach?

I don't believe Wilder's comments ruling out permanent incomings. We'll be desperately trying to get something done.

So with the deadline tomorrow, here are some we could go for...

Luke Freeman
- Now said to be available for £4m, with fucking Blackburn bidding that amount for him. If we're not all over this, I despair.

Marcus Maddison
- £2.5m release clause. Two clubs said to have met it.

Daniel Johnson
- One year left on his contract, time for him to move on, could be available for under £1.5m.

Josh Windass - Linked with Ipswich for £2m. Would seem quite a likely target for us.

Jackson Irvine and Josh Vela - Two midfielders who should be gettable if Wilder decides we need better than Evans and Lundstram.

Lucas Joao
- Would be a great signing if Wednesday are desperate enough to sell. Apparently his wages aren't too high either.

Danny Ward
- Should be available from Cardiff. Decent all round striker who shouldn't be beyond us financially.

Collin Quaner
- Preston linked, presumably Huddersfield would let him leave. Very athletic tall forward. Has a lot to offer us.

Tom Bradshaw - Another striker option but wouldn't necessarily be easy to sign.

Idrissa Sylla - QPR will sell I'm sure. Decent all round centre forward.

I'm hoping you are right because the "exhausted all avenues" and "there is nobody out there" lines that Wilder came out with yesterday genuinely amazed me.

I did think it seemed like a defeatist attitude to take a plenty of deals get done on deadline day.

That said he seemed genuinely serious about the fact and I can see not spending money for the sake of it.

But the likes of Luke Freeman would be exactly what the dr ordered. I Still think the striker is going to be a loan. Joao would have been one of my top picks all along... but can’t see that happening unfortunately.

FUCK QUAVER AND THE REST
WE WANT 1P HE’S THE BEST

I'm hoping you are right because the "exhausted all avenues" and "there is nobody out there" lines that Wilder came out with yesterday genuinely make me fear of where we are going.

Well, it seems Freeman's available. And if we're unwilling to pay something like £4m then we deserve to fail this season.

The likes of Daniel Johnson will also be available.

The "exhuasted all avenues" comment is absolute horseshit.

If Freeman ends up at Blackburn then I'll be lost for words. Our transfer policy is consistently shit but if we end the window with what we currently have it could be a new low in terms of amateurism. Certainly up there with selling Blackman when we were top and replacing him with Forte.

QPR owner says Freeman isn’t available. Random Tweet says he is available.

Therefore he must be available.
