We've played a premiership team,went 1 -0 up and sat back and and paid the price,imo we wer the better team over 90mins,

But they aren’t a premier league team and they didn’t look like one either. Yes some decent footballers and they could have had more.

This whole ‘meltdown’ bollocks. It’s not a meltdown it’s truth for what people see. ‘A full pre season’ and it looked no different to the end of the last season and one can say it’s because the team have to gel either. Maybe one of them days ? We’ll see

It wasn't great today but I have no concerns for the season as a whole. Wilder went for the safe selection today but sadly a midfield without Duffy is going to lack creativity and Wilder obviously feels it was bit too early to throw Woodburn in there. But with a quality centre forward then this team could well push play offs.

We do need Coutts back obviously because although Lunny and Evans are decent players, together neither has the guile that Coutts has.

Early days though and I think we'll play very similar in the future and win, such is football.

Corky I agree it's 1 game. What worries me is that we had nothing upfront at all, no pace, no passion. We also haven't solved our defnsive errors, Stevens again was garbage and the back 3 were often out paced in the second half. And finally that midfield 3 is bloody slow and predictable, they can huff and puff but they will not blow the house down (we saw that towards the end of last season).

We've lost our edge and what we were reknowned for in the first half of last season, I thought we may have got that back after the break but clearly we haven't. If teams have sussed us then we need to change tactics, i'm personally not sure they have I just think Wilder is trying to over think things. Go back to bold attack, attack, attack tactics.

First 4 months of last season we would have managed the game by probaly conceding 1 but getting another 2. The tailed off team of last season showed again up today, we've lost the magic what made us good by over thinking games.

Swansea were a good side but beatable. Swap Duffy in for Lundstram and I think we have a better chance

Its not the first game starting Lunny Evans and Fleck - I would love to know our record with those 3 compared to Coutts fleck and duffy. I bet its night and day.

Coutts as been out since last November,so lets not go down that route...i love coutts to bits...hes our quarterback what makes things tick...but surely were not a 1 man team.

Yes well...

I posted on here two or three weeks ago, entitled, “What about the middle?”or summat like that. I said the midfield was a concern for various reasons. Boy did I get some pelter for daring to suggest that.

Well chaps, I’m sorry but it’s true. Fleck fantastic. Coutts great but injured. Evans negative. Basham brainless. Duffy hot and cold. Lunny rainy and sunny.

With that sort of blend you’ll have odd days when it clicks and goes well and more days when it doesn’t.

I hope Ben Woodburn can offer something but we lack a midfield general.

I said we’d start this season like we finished the last one. Not saying that was a disaster, but it was disappointing after how we’d played early in the season.

So expect a slow and indifferent start and hopefully s stronger finish?

Personally i agree with you about the team..i think duffy/woodburn should have started either before lundstrum or evans,but lets not get carried away...wilder will sort it out and we will have a good season.

How many times were we “mugged off” last season? As I said in another thread, we’ve learnt fuck all and we’re still taking sucker punches towards the end of the game.
