Someone try and explain the thought process to me please? It’s not like it’s a one off, it happens quite often and it’s fucking bizarre.

He’s the link between our midfield and strikers. They look lost without him. We look 1000 times better when he plays, even if he only manages 70 minutes so be it.

Playing Lundstram and Evans while Duffy is sat on the bench for 86 minutes... un fucking believable.

Reminds me of when he tried to keep shoehorning EEL into the centre of defence when Jake Wright’s record was outstanding.

5 games in 14 days might be too much for Duffy.
Wilder might have thought rotate the squad and start Duffy against Boro on Tuesday.
Lundstram,Evans, Stevens were the weakest players for me today too slow.
McGoldrick and Clarke might be too similar.

Possibly so, but why line up like we’re playing Barcelona with 3 centre mids and 5 at the back? It doesn’t work.

Duffy should’ve started today. No doubt about it.

Duffy has to start every game, sorry

There is a reason he doesn't, it also depends heavily on the rest of the team in terms of shape as to whether he's effective or not.

That 3 in the middle doesn’t work, we should always be playing someone ‘in the hole’

I’ve not seen us play well with 3 in the middle.

Depends which Duffy it is.

He was poor from March to May last season.

Nope, he’s part of a squad. He looks great when we are on the front foot, but is a passenger when we are under the cosh. And he isn’t a player who keeps us on the front foot. I love Duffy, but he isn’t a starter every week. I’m more concerned about complete lack of mobility up front.

Can accept Duffy starting on the bench - but he should have been the first change on 60 minutes, because Swansea changed it at half time and were running the midfield.

Can never accept Lunny and Evans in the same team - pathetic, negative team selection for the start of the game.

Wilder picked a side NOT to lose the game, not one to try and win it.

Picked not to lose and we lost..........and we got what we deserved - Swansea were absolutely useless first half and couldn't possibly play as bad 2nd half. Same thing last season v Preston away. Preston stepped up that day, Swansea did today.

Changes not made soon enough and wrong ones at that.

It seems as though Clarke will play every game and will never be subbed - bizarre.

As I said, personally I'd have started Woodburn and brought Duffy on 60/70 mins in.

Fairness he’s not really featured that much in preseason. Whereas Holmes has. Which is a strange one as Holmes has gone out

Sadly, I think the game may be up for Duffy. I was surprised he didn't play more in preseason and it's probably because his legs have gone. Fully expect him to make most of his appearences from the bench this season.

When i saw the midfield announced i cringed, the two peas in a pod Lundstram/Evans should not play at the same time.

We looked very ordinary today, there was no magic coming from midfield (cos he was sat on bench for 85mins),just a sterile sideways passing game.

On the contrary they had number 14 and number 10 who were both quick thinking and moved the ball forwards very quickly.

And again McBurnie shows how good he is at poaching a loose ball in the six yard box,did it against us for Barnsley.

At home, fitness permitting, we should always start with Duffy. At home where we are trying to get after teams then it should be Duffy, Fleck and one other (until Coutts is back and firing).

Away from home, I can see the merit in having Duffs on the bench. But at home...its criminal not to start him imo.

I did also (cringe when I saw the starting line up). As you say, Lundstram and Evans together just doesn't do it. Pick one or the other and go with it. The other should be on the bench. Please don't start both of them again from the start Chris.
