I think there is a real possibility that this kid is in fact a back-up CB for O'Connell this season and a long-term investment.

Yep. You shouldn't sign players just to be back up ideally, you should sign players who you ultimately expect to become assets/starters. He'd seem like an example of that.

Shes a lesbian isn't she ? Done well there

As a mate of mine always said, he's never met one that can't be converted. Not that he's ever done that.

If his missus is on Corrie, then that’s probably why he fucked Rangers off.

She’d soon be shagging another footballer when he’s up in Jockland.

Coincidentally, Sophie's on screen sister Rosie, is married in real life to a Celtic footballer, unlikely that's why he said no to Rangers.

Weirdly, he's been training with Oldham most of this pre season. Their fans have no idea why and presumed they were signing him.

This signing would make absolutely no sense

We've signed our number 1 defender target, got a classy midfield already with a need of an extra playmaker yet we are apparently going in for an unknown defender/midfielder who last played for Oldham.

Oldham.

Old. Ham.

Rosie Webster......she could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.

If this is true and we are signing him.. regarding JOC - has anyone considered that there's a third option?

There's a distinct possibility that O'Connell will at some point get a move to a Prem side. If this does happen (and knowing us it will), better to have a like-for-like replacement who is already at the club, integrated and ready to go, no?

ie. He is JOC's replacement, but in the future, not now.

Not saying this is the case, btw, just an idea.

He’s been on loan there and got young player of the year I believe? If only we had someone who could extract stuff from their message boards...

You are right but he left the club once his loan ran out but has turned up with them again this pre season. The only thing I can think of is that he is seeing the Oldham physio because he was injured towards the end of last season so maybe he's doing some sort of rehabilitation programme with him.

Can cover a few positions and a good age to develop. Makes sense to me.

I also don't think [or at least hope] he is cover for JOC. Not nearly good enough.

Oldham fans seem to really like him.
We need 2 good players in each position and we don't have that at LCB, hopefully Bryan can provide that.

2 players in each position, sometimes more, is KEY.

We have to think realistically and if there is still no big investor at our top table we will have to sell to keep the club afloat. JOC and unfortunately Fleck are the 2 I worry about if we don't get promoted and things stay as they are. Keep Bryan in and around the first team, play him in the cup games, get him pushing for O'Connell's shirt and see how much he improves throughout the season. We may then have a ready made replacement for JOC if and when he moves on.

He might be one we loan out to the top end of League One in January after we've had a good look at him in training and improved him in areas.

This is all on the presumption he is signing permenently btw. Makes total sense to me.
There's no way we replace JOC with a defender who was at Oldham last season this window. He's JOC's competition, not his replacement.

Makes sense bringing this guy in as cover. Can play in defence or if needed in midfield. Bit like Bash but left footed. The only other left footer we have capable of playing if JOC is missing is Lafferty and I wouldn't want to see him on the left of a back 3 in the championship. Nothing against him we just need a better option for that potential situation.

I don't want to see Lafferty in the championship full stop.

I do wonder if he might be an option at LWB, most wing backs are formerly left backs or left mids but Bryan is a left footer who can play in defence or midfield. If he's got pace and can run with the ball he might well be the new Lafferty and we could see Lafferty moved on
