‘Pogba-lite’ apparently....if true , please be a maurading LWB for Dem Blades...

Hoping we paid a lot less than the rumoured £2.5 million he was supposed to go to Rangers for?

100% he is ours. Not a replacement. In as cover.

Surely Wilder will have given him assurances that he has a good chance of playing?

Also didn’t Wilder say he was looking to improve the first XI this summer window?

We seem to be putting pieces of a jigsaw in place to actually start games with a 4 at the back.

CW played 4 at Northampton, but still liked to push the fullbacks on.

The modern game is about switching formations - If this lad signs we seem to have the ability to start games with a 4.

Interesting development with this Bryan (possibly) and Egan signings.

UTB

Yes, we have the centre backs now in Stearman and Egan. If JOC leaves it wouldn't suprise me.It'll be interesting to see if our next forward player is an out and out striker or somebody who can play behind a lone forward ala Woodburn.

Looks like I was right about 3 more signings then. Just surprised we've gone for another defender. Would've preferred a LWB but maybe he can play there - I'd expect he can.

Might even be another 4 now if we sign 3 attacking players - Woodburn plus 2 others.

Wilder does like to talk about short term, medium term and long term deals though. Egan, Hendo are immediate starters; McG is there to push for a start. Maybe this lad fits more into the medium term plan? If JOC does well again this year, we might face losing him in Jan or next summer. Would be excellent planning if we had his replacement in the house, integrating with the squad before the event. In the meantime, he can push JOC and sounds like a useful lad to have around cover wise.

That was the wages they were paying him over 3 years with a signing on fee so I don’t think it’ll work out bad at all this signing, bb.

Maybe as well as being cover for JOC, the idea behind bringing him in is to balance the midfield out and allow Fleck to occasionally play in a more advanced role?

If that's right and the actual fee is £1m or less that's very pleasing, and more believable that he'd just be cover.

He'll be another defensive option in midfield (along with Leonard), but I bet he can play LWB as well. As long as he's a decent athlete he should be able to, because being able to play in midfield suggests he's good enough on the ball.

Signing a 21 year old with good potential who can cover 3 positions seems like a great bit of business.

Another good signing from Wilder. Whatever he has paid I am already backing him to he right.

Yes, the signing on fee will be no where near £1m so all is well with this deal, he has potential to bring in some decent money if he proves to be good enough if or when we decide to sell him. If he ends up being no good we don’t lose too much, it’s a no brainier this one.

I think there is a real possibility that this kid is in fact a back-up CB for O'Connell this season and a long-term investment. If O'Connell stays this season he's probably going to leave next season and with the Brooks money + initial increased budget this signing could well be just part of the plan with no sales.

Just watched this. (I'm bored alright ffs)

4 years old, but he seems like a good character who wants to play. Versatile, happy to play anywhere and play for the manager which is definitely a Wilder trait. Looks very comfortable on the ball and a good athlete.
