Gone Elsewhere Martin Waghorn

Just noticed that Waghorn is managed by the same agency that represents DCL, Louis Reed and Sam Graham.

As long as its not the same agent as what Brooksy had then we have a chance! It could help having the same agent as the guys you mentioned as there may already be a relationship between us and him.

Close to £7m? WTF?

Not signing for another club then? :D

I imagine a decent chunk of this up front then the rest in add ons, a bit like with Egan. Bloody happy days though if this comes off, with McGoldrick on a free as well. :)

Staggered payments up to 4 ish and then 2.5 worth of addons would be the most likely. The quoted fees are always inclusive of all possibilities and extras.

Breaking the record twice in a week though, wowzer.

I just can't get my head around the possibility of Wilder spending £10m on Egan and Waghorn after spending so long haggling over small amounts for the likes of Leonard and others.

A. He thinks they are worth it. B. They are championship players.

£7 million is just fucking stupid money to be throwing away. £3 million at the most if you’re pushing it. I can’t see him being a massive improvement to what we already have.

I think money could be better spent here. To me it reminds me of when Villa signed Ross McCormack from Fulham. I know it’s an inflated market now, but the only thing I can think of is that his wages are not that high currently.

Because the budget he has to work with is bigger now?
Wonder how that's happened?
(If it's true :()

Clarke got 3 more goals than him last season and he was signed for nearly 40 times less than that. We bought Sharp for a bit more than half a million and he got 13. Both are only a few years older and had significantly less play time than Waghorn. He’s a good player and I’d sign him, but fucking not for £7 million. Christ, he is not worth that at all.

That's what a lot of expert fans said about Clarke and the price we paid for him wasn't it? ;)

No idea whether this will happen, and if it does, whether he will be a success; but there are a lot of strikers out there who would not cost much, and would almost certainly fail. Back to the days of Higdon and Sammon, anyone?

This is all about improving what we have already and bringing in players that bring us better balance.

I don’t know of another player available to us that is a lefty, has a high work rate, can drift wide, corners, freekicks and score goals! This improved the team and will allow fleck more chance to get forward. I love it personally. Yes it’s a lot of money but what he brings to the team and how he could improve the fluidity could be immense.

Balance balance balance

Assists, Can take set pieces, can play in multiple attacking positions. Things that we’re desperately missing. He’s not just a striker, he fills many gaps and weaknesses in the current squad too.

He had all these things last year too but Wilder didn't fancy paying 400k for him!

Name someone that’s as good as him, all round play not just goals, you could get for less.

I’d add his drive and tenacity as well.
