Me, I'd have that Gayle, me.

Is the lad Noel-Williams still about. I'd take him as well, me.

Didn't we do the same with Leroy Lita? Think that was to keep the fans happy.

I think there's some hesitancy there, because at 28, he's only performed like last season just the once. Fans would generally like to see us spend the money, but are looking for a cast iron guarantee. Unfortunately in football, there aren't any.

First to say, in CW I trust. However, it's strange this football malarky. He cost Ipswich £250k (I think) A year later, they are asking for multi zillions.

Clubs usually layout these vast sums when either an up and coming young star with lots of potential, or when consistently producing the goods. Just seems odd that Waghorn has took until now to reach his potential. I hope he isn't a one hit wonder. By that I mean I believe he's a decent player regardless, but he may not repeat his one season of excellence, so £5m (or more) not so sure?

It's very rare for our beloved club to go splashing the limited funds we have, I hope we don't do a Rhodes that's all and fans are desperate for CW to get it right

Just to repeat though, in CW I trust.

Rumoured to be £400k last summer and that's after he'd supposedly been touted about to a lot of clubs south of the border with little interest. At £5m, he's gone up £287,500 per goal he's scored last season. He wouldn't be a player that I'd pay more than £2m (fee + add ons) for, but then again I'm not CW and we're buying in a daft market. He's 28 and he's had 3 good seasons in 10 years. One last year in the championship, one in 15/16 in Scotland and one in 09/10 for Leicester in the championship. He's scored 93 in 314, which looks impressive on paper, but 56 of those goals were scored in those 3 seasons. It's not a criticism of either club or CW, but if we weren't that interested/had no interest in getting him last summer at £400k, why are we after him 12 months later for £5m?

My thoughts exactly.

It's not like Waghorn's changed as a player. He's just had a good season.

You remember him for being overweight yet from the recent picture of him he looks far from it. Players mature (get it) at different ages and Waghorn looks to be another. The middle to bottom half of the premier league is littered with players who ‘got it’ at the end of their 20s.

He won’t be the only bid we have in at the moment. Anyone sat on one of our other bids might want to get off their butt

Just noticed that Waghorn is managed by the same agency that represents DCL, Louis Reed and Sam Graham.

Look at it like this (purely based on last season) he scored 16 goals. Assisted countless more in a dire Ipswich team which they've came out stated (fanbase of Ipswich) they'd be fighting relegation without him.
