Come on Blades!
Victory today in the evening! :)
Yesterday's news.

Ferencváros - Kecskeméti TE 2-0
Ferencváros - Vojvodina 1-0
Ferencváros - Omnia Nicosia 1-0
Ferencváros-Sheffield United 1-0
Ferencváros - Vasas SC 1-0 (Final)

1 Ferencváros (HUN)
2 Vasas SC (HUN)
3 Sheffield United (ENG)
4 Vojvodina (SRB)
5 Omnia Nicosia (CIP)
6 Kecskeméti TE (HUN)

Seen a few Leicester fans outside ground so hopefully they'll bring a decent turnout. Also saw Bunn and Naysmith in their suits ;)

Think the red 'n' white wizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzards will do City tonight, 2-0 Utd with goals from Ched and Treacy!

I've gone for a 3-1 win to us with young Ward scoring first.

I didn't see any of you lot at the Lion- were you sat inside? I was topping up my tan outside ;)

Have RS confirmed same starting line up? I'll be happy with that. Not so much with the sun shining right in my eyes ;)

Would love to be able to listen to the commentary for the match, but Radio Sheffield always cuts out before kick off (I'm listening on the internet). I don't get how the BBC have got the rights to broadcast the matches on regular radio but not over the web. Will have to make do with their text updates page!

Rant over. Come on Blades! :D

aidy boothroyd spotted here along with chris hewton, however you spell it. wonder who they spying on

That's because Blades World buys the rights for the commentry; thye own it exclusilvely. So unfortunately Radio sheff cuts out. The only way you'll get commentry is by subscribing to BW. Belive me .... I've tried everything!? :(

they have studied us well. Playing on the right away from walker as much as poss. They know where our holes are too. Ref us shocking, we tackle, they fall and get the free kick. We fall, we get nothing. Very frustrating.

looks like squinny might be coming on, probably for Howard.

im quite liking leicesters way of putting goalie off lol! slightly unoriginal but sounds effective!

oh my god. pick that outta net! that was amazing. nothing will ever beat jags v weeds but i'll tell u something, that was close! amazing!

Ah of course. Understandable I suppose. I'd subscribe but it's about £40 a season innit?

Damn! Cost me over £20 on a bet that did. Picked 5 teams and the only one to not win was the Blades. :(
But good goal and at least we didn't lose-unlike Ipswich. :D

About last night...
Ok, we didn't get the win we'd have all liked, but I wanted to write down a few praises I think are due.

Firstly, as much as I hate to say it, fair play to Leicester. They came with a game plan, shut us down and didn't give us any time on the ball. They played very well and prevented us playing the game the way we wanted to. In short, a very good 'away' performance.

Secondly, I think Kevin Blackwell deserves a lot of praise. He saw that we were losing the midfield battle and made a VERY brave decision in using Quinn to change it, especially considering recent performances and reactions from the crowd. Changng it at half time, rather than with just 10 minutes left suggests to me that he's at least learned from past mistakes, took a gamble and to me it paid off. Ok, we still only got a draw, but there's no doubt that we were by far the better team in the second half and were pretty unlucky not to come away with the win.

Thirdly, Stephen Quinn deserves a big pat on the back for his performance. I think the cheer he got when he came on will have helped, but he looked well up for it and put himself about very well. His passing was better and he got stuck in in the way Brian Howard doesn't. That messed up Leicester's plan and allowed us to win the midfield battle in the second half. He also got forward well and looked dangerous around the edge of the box. Plus if that volley he hit had gone in I really think the roof would have come off the Kop! After all the stick he's had recently, to bounce back like that shows great character when he got have let his head drop and got the sulks on.

Finally, the crowd. I thought the atmosphere was excellent last night and very different to the Watford match. There was plenty of singing and the booing was reserved for the away team and the officials (as it should be!). It really felt like a supportive atmosphere for a change rather than a negative one. Long may it continue!

So, all in all, despite only getting a draw I'm quite satisfied this morning!

I think we lost games like that last season, Donny springs to mind, so on reflection I think we've improved from then.

I was just going to come on and post something along the same lines, I agree with all of that.
I thought the word that sums up last night was unlucky. We came close on a few occasions, their goal was very lucky and the referee... I'm not even going to start going on about him, but as I said to Linz, he made Rob Styles look good.
I feel fairly positive, roll on Saturday.

Few praise's and grumbles:

+ The atmosphere was really good last night! Thought we'd have brought more though but we have had 3 games in 8 days!...

+ Ward - Again - so energetic and always wanting the ball...more than makes up for the fact that he's 4ft tall!

+ Treacy's goal - his first ever senior goal - and what a way to open the account! Finest goal i've seen in many a time.

+ Squinny - To have seemingly bounced back from such a piss poor performance on Saturday and then come on and show some balls, get a great cheer (and one boo from some prick on the back of South Stand!). very impressed. Also kept his temper in check in a match i could easily see him seeing red (and getting a red!)

+ Leicester's Support: The foxes should be proud of their away following! Clapped our Milk cup finalist youngsters, filled the bottom tier and other than one ejectee - behaved impecably with some great chants...was very impressed

- First half was pretty piss poor and Kev needs to address this - we can't have another season where we're relying on his seemingly brilliant HT talks

- The aforementioned idiot who booed Squinny onto the pitch

- The Ref - i honestly get sick of us having to moan about the ref because it seems that that's all we do...and we should be able to win on merit - but 4 mins in and he gives the softest yellow card and Leicester knew they'd got an easy rise of diving all night.
