There's no shame in saying Forest are likely to finish above us next season, given how much they've spent. Not so sure on Wednesday but all will unfold over the coming weeks, and that will dictate the season.

This is an excellent point based on expectations.

Had mcnulty not played for us I’m sure plenty would have looked at his record over his time in England (basically top scorer everywhere he’s been bar Bradford) and concluded he’s well worth a punt.

My concern with Marriott is it’s a massive gamble as he’s never done it at this level - is he just a slightly better mcnulty? Not one I’d be comfortable with us blowing huge money on imo (upwards of a couple of million.) That said given we could probably pay his wages maybe it will happen...

Will accept he's never done it at this level, but he has all the ingredients and more to succeed and push further than the championship. Has the general ompfh that a striker needs to cut it. Out of all the players we're linked with. He's the one I want the most. Be like Christmas if he's announced.

Teams have no issues in launching money around especially in this league but no one seems to be desperately trying to sign him?

Pigs were rumoured to be looking. Bristol city, derby and us. Several teams really.. thing about transfers these days is it's all about the big ones. Ronaldo etc etc. Or the teams spunking money on players in the championship. Would be surprised if there wasn't more teams in for him that those quoted

I imagine the whole league is interested. But I guess the championship teams are all weighing up is £6million too much of a gamble. Seemingly the answer is yes.

Pboro need to lower the price for it to be realistic in my opinion.

They are probably thinking the.nearer it gets to the end of the window the more desperate teams will get. With the amount of.money already been thrown around they will fancy their chance of getting what they want for him. There aren't that many other lower league options with the potential he has.

K Moore scored loads for Rotherham in the league and then struggled for goals in championship. Imagine paying £6million and he struggles. If your a board member I’m putting t on the managers head. If it goes wrong you’ve wasted 6m.

And though he’s had bad luck with injuries - would be a huge step up in what we have.

Don’t know how boro are looking FFP wise. I assume they have parashoot payments but may start wanting to trim some excess and let pulis have free reign on his choices while they are still in the three year window?

Yeh, absolutely crazy. The problem now is the precedent has been set - there's evidence of previous money being spent on player A, therefore player B is worth at least X.

It's what makes me most disappointed about the Brooks sale.

No obvious comparison springs to mind, but i feel he was sold for below what he is worth in the current market.

I think he meant an example of buying an unproven syrikrs from Posh and turning a big profit. Forest bought Assombalonga for about £5.5mil from Peterborough and sold him to Boro for around 15 mil or so a couple of years later.
