Just been on the posh forum (never really snooped before) and they say that their chairman has accepted an offer from a Championship club for him.
I then went on Twitter to find Darragh's quote but couldn't see a thing.
For those of you that don't know
Darragh MacAnthony is
like a 12 year old girl on social media. Seems a nice fella though.

Sure I read on bladesmad we had an offer in, something along the lines of the a contract has been offered to him. It's now in his hands. I'll see if I can find a source.

Here's the itk rumour just for proof. Not too sure myself so take it with a pinch of salt. Hoping and praying it's true

Posh have signed Jason Cummings on loan from Forest, so I assume Marriott is going the other way.

I personally think he's our most likely target.

I'm basing that on nothing but blind faith to be honest.
2 things are in our favour though, we seem to struggle matching wages, Hogan and Gallager sound like another example. Surely a young league one player can't be demanding what a Premiership or Aston villa marquee signing will be? So hopefully the only obstacle will be the transfer fee.

And 2, who else would you rather play under as a young, ex lower league, future star than Wilder!? He could be another Hogan if be makes a bad decision.

*I've re-read all my comments above, I sound really nieve, football just isn't as simple as that unfortunately anymore.
 
He's too good for us, we should stand aside and let a proper Championship club takes a punt on him

"If they (Derby) want to back their manager and buy him they know what they've got to do, but I certainly won't be letting him go for where they are at the moment, not a chance."

He confirmed Marriott is also keen on a move to another unnamed club, who have also shown interest in him.

It seem it's probably us vs Derby to who will match Peterborough's valuation. Marriott seems to be our only target that we have competition for.

See.. hearing the back the manager quote makes me feel it's us under the current climate (owners etc)

I am sticking him on ignore. I suggest everyone else does the same. I've got no issues with Wendies posting on this forum but they have to contribute whether positive or negative but his posts are neither and are pure pathetic drivel.

As much as I’d like to see us sign someone like Marriot, I can’t see us being the unnamed club unless I’m missing something.
 
He’s a big risk for anyone high risk with potential high reward. Billy scored 30 in that division and 12 months later we are considering letting him go back down to League one with Sunderland.

I’m personally 50/50 on Marriott but for £6m you’d have to have scouted him extensively and be willing to take the risk. A signing like Marriott it goes pear shaped can get a manager sacked.

I agree but I’m not so sure the scenario if we bring 2 strikers in. Billy may want some assurances over a starting role ( I would understand at his age)

Until that window closes anything can happen.

Though the difference of course is that one will only be losing his abilities with age, whereas the other is still improving.
I doubt Peterborough will get £6m for him. I also don’t believe Derby are in a position to put bid us as they are cutting costs.

I am in no doubt we are the other club. He fits the mould of a Wilder signing. Being a blade also fits with the claim he’s shown a desire to go to that club. And you can be as sure as eggs are eggs that Wilder has every player scouted extensively...I doubt anyone delves into a player more than he does!!

However, I also expect his sale to drag on and be this years Ryan leonard. Their chairman stubbornly refusing to budge and then later accepting a lower bid which is close to the actual fee he has in his head. (Not the fee he has for the media)
