I going to go against the grain and say I think he would be a good signing

Can't see it, not what we need, we may as well have kept Hanson!

One of the click bait web sites mentioned him as being an ideal target for us and the OP latched on to this and no doubt turned it round to indicate that we are in for him, something I very much doubt.

We'll see! :)

Jesus - I can only imagine the reaction when we announce this signing to soften the blow of jack going for £3.75 and a packet of mini cheddars.

Prized asset replaced by an unprolific striker pushing 40 - that’s got sheff U written all over it

Be a good signing as a third striker and a cult hero at BDTBL.

On a free yes but not for the fee he'll cost and his wages. Would much rather we go for someone younger like Gallagher - if we can get him.

He would do well for us (as one of 4/5 forwards that we should have), if (and that's a big IF) he was to sign.

I have my doubts that this will actually happen, but he could be a very clever signing if it did. Whilst CW probably has a few bob to spend, we still aren't mega bucks Rovers, and we need to be very astute in our business. Neil Shipperley anyone?

I presume he's coming on a 5 year contract because that's the only way we'd afford his wages.

A big fat hairy no thank you ....he used to able to harry and cause defenders problems ...now he can't run and doesn't score any goals ...let's hope not ..pls

I watched him playing for Burnley under 23s at Stocksbridge and he looked a decent player He put in a decent shift with the youngsters but our big defenders gave him a good work out.. Our lads really enjoyed the experience. Walters did lead the line well unlike a lot of first team players who don't give 100%

He's a great pro no question.

Whether he's still got the legs and fitness to do a good job at the top end of the Championship will remain to be seen I suppose if true.

He could be this season's Niel shipperly

Why are people against getting a player that gives 100% and gives us something we currently don't have upfront ?? neither Billy or Leon could play the role he would ??

we just need to trust Wilder and get behind the team

If we sign him, do we also sign two other strikers?

If we signed him and only one other striker..... then what type would the other one be?

I can only see him as an additional third option.

How’s it going Mike ;) ?

How much did we pay for him? 115 appearances seems to suggest we got some use out of him.

For the season review Deadbat had for the crucial relegation season, of the strikers only Marcus Bent was judged to be worse that season. He looked better in League 1, but then so did everyone that dropped down a level.

Richard Cresswell like Nosworthy and Simonsen had done very well in his temporary spells at the club and actually had been signed on a permanent deal before the end of the previous season. He had scored 14 goals in a relatively short amount of time and after doubts over his signing initially turned United fans’ opinions around with his work rate and ability to get in the box and get goals. However it still raised eyebrows when he signed a three year contract especially when he had already turned 33 years of age in the summer. Maybe a one year or two year deal as a reward for his performances but three?! Cresswell then went on and has had an awful season in the main. He only scored 5 goals (significantly down on last season) and generally looked slow, immobile and past his best. He looked a player that’s best days were behind him. He tried hard and did not hide but games often passed him by due to his lack of pace and stamina (often seemed shattered by the hour mark). He did not win as many headers as he did the previous seasons and whether he played wide left (for the most part) or up front (as he asked to be played) he was equally disappointing. He remained in the team under Speed despite a run of poor games throughout his tenure and seemed to be ‘undroppable’ despite offering little to the team. He remained in the team when Adams came in but then was finally dropped for the run in of games and his disappearance (along with others such as Collins/Doyle) resulted in some improved results and performances. With another 2 years on decent wages combined with a really poor season; he is one that will not invite offers and will be around next season. I feel with hungrier and even younger players at the lower level he may struggle even more and it is no good having experience if your legs have completely gone, as seems to be the case with Cresswell. I hope he can somehow lift himself to at least be a contributor next season but like some of the others mentioned, Yeats, Collins, Doyle, Bogdanovic it would be ideal if he could somehow be moved on.
