I doubt we’ve any hope of securing him regardless of what we’d offer. He’s still raw and needs another season at this level IMHO but he’ll play at a higher level than us for most of his career I’d wager.

Oh, I don’t think he’s worth £10m.
Not unless you’re a PL team buying up promising youngsters who may deliver you a return on investment.

He was, bluntly, a big bloody disappointment.

Wasn’t he ?

I could be wrong, and he could push on, but I’m not seeing anything other than a decent L1 / Average Championship level baller there.

You are wrong.

His numbers stacked up favourably compared to both his team mates and his opposition players.

Hes a young player who was stepping up to a level where he’d not played many games. Inconsistencies are to be expected.

He played a good chunk of his games ahead of Gilchrist who while being steady eddy got a nose bleed every time he passed the half way line which meant, especially at home he got doubled up on consistently meaning he often had to turn backwards.

Many times he was sprinting away after cooper caught corners and they’d obviously been instructed by the management team to play it safe as more often than not the ball got rolled out to Anel or Robinson safely despite the Plymouth fans raving about Coopers cannon of a throw.

We played such slow and painful football at times he barely got any service to put him in behind the back line or in a decent 1v1 position. He usually received the ball after we’d played 17 passes around the back and allowed the opposition to assemble two banks of 5 players which was usually high on impossible to breach

He had a hot streak around Christmas and looked unplayable at times. He then got an injury which he didn’t seem to full shake off but it also coincided with Wilder being intent on playing Brereton Diaz down the right no matter what despite him looking absolutely awful off the right.

Given the circumstances JRS really wasn’t a disappointment at all.

Gut feeling is he goes to Rangers. He’ll look a world beater in a weak league and will get European footy

Can't compare him to Salah, that's a bit unfair. But yes he's got work to do to be a Prem winger.

I'd have him back for £10m as BladesinLeeds said above. Ideally £5m though 😄
Yep - obviously not comparing him to Salah… just that he’s the best possible example that however talented you are you still have to work incredibly hard to become a top player in the modern game. JRS often seemed to be waiting for things to happen rather than making them happen.
£5m would still be a gamble for me … but there’s definitely huge potential in there 👍
