I'd rather cut my cock off with a rusty bread knife...

Brooks out and that Hoof merchant in would have me questioning my existence...

If he was signing on a pittance I'd be on board. Likely to be our highest earner and a definite starter if he signs. Its a no from me

This signing would be the most underwhelming signing of a striker since Neil Shipperly. He got us up.

He may be unfashionable, getting on a bit and not a headline grabber but he is an honest pro, hard working and has consistently out performed players in the same team as him who are earning 5x what he is.

He will run through brick walls for us and will become a fans' favourite. Yes he doesn't provide pace to get in behind but if he is signing along side other players that will, he represents a very astute piece of business. He also takes a great penalty and leads the line well. I don't think I've ever seen him moan about anything on the pitch or dive around like an idiot. I reckon he'll fit in nicely.

Having said that, I'd still rather we line up against Swansea with Gallagher and Marriot up top together.

Clearly adding to our vibrant young forward line!

Joking aside he’s a decent player - best part of a decade on the prem. He’s not and never has been a goal scorer but will certainly graft and provide a threat - that said it’s hardly a long term solution but if he was this seasons donaldson it’s a step up.

He’s nearly 35, for Heaven’s sake!
As long as it’s not silly money though, I wouldn’t be all mardy about this.
Great Prem & International experience who should have a decent season left in him.
Not sure I quite believe it, like.

I see you found on that well known reliable web site FLW;);)

This does sound more like a Warnock-era rumour than a Wilder one, tbh.

But WTFDIK?

I thought I was reading a Hanson thread with these two posts

He certainly shouldn't be one of the two strikers we sign.

In which case, there's no space for him.

While he is a good honest professional who does leave it all on the pitch , and from that point of view would be a hit with our fans ,
Unfortunately I’d have to say no , does put himself about , no central defenders will push him about , he is a big unit , he’s not afraid to ruffle a few feathers even playing at international level for Ireland he gets stuck in
However I don’t think this is a player that would fit in to our way of playing
Don’t have a problem with him , but we need somebody different than a big lad up top
Sorry all you gerritintabox types

From what you said there I would think he is an ideal fit for us.We have no real aggression upfront ( we are a bit short of it all over the pitch ) although coming to the end of his career he will want a last challenge and we would give him one.
He's a leader with vast experience plonk him in that squad and he would raise others around him.Doubt he could play every match but I would take him tomorrow if the price is right.
Sean Diche is nobodies fool and to pay the price quoted shows how he rates him.
Maybe the premiership is just beyond him now but he would relish the challenge of the championship ,in my opinion.

Went to Burnley for 3 million quid last year! I'm more surprised they haven't been in for Clarke!

I wouldn't be completely opposed to this signing, dependant on how much it would affect the budget.
Always looked very difficult to play against, and has proved time and time again he knows how to finish with both feet and his head.

(And he takes a mean penalty)

One of the click bait web sites mentioned him as being an ideal target for us and the OP latched on to this and no doubt turned it round to indicate that we are in for him, something I very much doubt.

He does have the aggression ( not that stupid stuff ) but what Morgan used to display, slowing down a bit now , but teak tough hard as nails pro who gives it and takes it , as you like to see in football,
I’d say he could handle the championship quite easily ,
But I think we need something more .
Like I said one of those players you like even for the opposition , youd want him in your team , even more so one or two years ago
