It's OK holding all the cards legally but what use is a player that wants to be somewhere else?My own experience, admittedly pre Bosman and in Germany, was that most player contracts seriously favour the clubs. The clubs had all the power. I am led to believe that currently in the UK, the situation has not changed much from my pre historic, German experience. Make of that what you will. That also may explain why players and other staff have agents. They do, after all, handle all the legal stuff. I had a lawyer represent me when I signed, his role and actions were very similar to that of a modern day agent.
If they're not fully focussed and committed to the here and now then you're better off without them.
There are thousands of players with similar ability but it's the ones with the strongest mindset that make it to the top.
