Everyone then wants a rise and the player budget shrinks?

Player budget shrinks very quickly if you genuinely replace a player like that. Most of it would have to go on one player just to fill that void.

Brooks would’ve been a first choice player had he not had his illness.

No he wouldn't, and wasn't mate. He made very few starts, before he became ill. I don't know whether Wilder didn't rate him highly enough, or whether he was just trying to protect him as an outstanding asset, but he definitely wasn't a first choice player, before or after his illness.

Should he have been? I don't know tbh. I think there were a few times when he'd been outstanding, but still not managed to get in the starting line-up in the next game. I always think that's harsh on a player - if they are playing well and at the top of their form then they deserve to stay in the team.

Anyhow, it's all history now, but I tell you something, I'll bet he makes more starts for Bournemouth between now and Christmas than he did for us in the whole season.

When we're watching MOTD next month and seeing him rip through Premiership defences and score wonderful goals - let's remember that he could hardly get a game for us eh?
