Brooks is the best talent seen at the Lane since Currie. Anyone who can't see this knows fuck all about football. It's inevitable that he will be be leaving some time in the future but if United sell him for the first bid, especially when they don't have to just yet, then they can fuck right off. That will be me done.

How are you going to know if we’ve accepted the first bid or not? As it is it sounds like this isn’t the first bid anyway

10 million plus (reported) is a hell of a return for a Good half season of mostly cameos

Brooks is an excellent young talent and will do well, not sure Bournemouth really is a great move for him, would’ve thought the likes of spurs or Liverpool would suit him better, but if that’s the offer on the table then fair enough.

I was hoping to see him really take this league apart this season, but looks like it’s not going to happen.

I’m sure a decent few quid in Wilders kitty has persuaded him to allow Brooks to go.

Let’s hope we spend it wisely
£12m plus add ons and sell on clause apparently?

Lets wait for wilder to speak, it will be a lot easier to have opions then, if he's happy with any deal then so am I because it should mean we have negotiated a good deal for the club after (maybe) the player wanted to go, just hope wilder is still here because if he ain't..... .....

Yeah we’d tied him to a longer more lucrative contract.

What’s your point? We should never sell even if it works better for the club?

Better in what sense.? If it's for the betterment of first team football, yes.

How do you know it is the first bid?

What if he’s the one pushing for this move?
Would you consider it irrelevant and make him stay?

Well, other clubs keep players who want to move. Why can't we? It was only 5 minutes ago Brooks was very happy here.

If he wants to leave and Wilder's made the decision, I suggest Wilder's growing ego has played a part, as well as any possible benefit to his transfer budget. 'If you don't want to be here then off you go' is an inflexible stance that won't always be in the club's best interests. If we waited until July I think we'd get a better fee, let alone until January or the end of the season.

What shall I do with the Brooks 36 shirt I bought? Gaffer tape? Sharpie?

Ps. Didn't want a name and number shirt but it was cheaper than the other options in my size at the time, I'll never buy another ffs.

Fuck me. This took me over an hour to catch up with the meltdown. Here's my two penneth...

I wonder if we might get a player from them on loan as part of the deal. Sure we've shown interest in that Lys Mousset, correct me if I'm wrong. Or even Lewis Grabban?

Probably David Brooks

Maddison went for £24 million, double what we get for Brooks................scandlous.

Maddison is more than double the player that Brooks currently is. And Maddison went for £20m not £24m.

Tadic went for £10 million today and Flint for £7 million, so who knows what's happening with transfer fees.

So Brooks is better than Tadic? Anybody that thinks that should give their heads a wobble... not you Robbie. I think you're on my way of thinking??

Hope he dont go and spunk it up on some more Lundstram and Leonard types.

Seriously?

However much Bournemouth are paying us. They simply aren’t the right club. If Brooks had another half decent season with us, he’d be able to have his pick of clubs. It’s quite feasible that we could be playing Bournemouth the season after next.

I can see two sides to this comment. They probably ARE the best premier league club he could join at present because he WILL get game time and the do play good football.
However, like you say, there could be a hint of Jordan Slew in this if it goes wrong for him. Another promotion challenging season at BDTBL could see his stock rise considerably and his move to Spurs could be more realistic and more of a squad player than a bench warmer.

Yeah just like 2 mill for che adams was a great deal right! How much is he worth now

Adams is wank. He's a bog standard championship player. He's found his level. Granted he's worth more than 2m but he's hardly a world beater that your post suggests.

Was on the cards as soon as he changed agents, if Wilder is happy, that will do for me, let's just hope he given more money than he was when Adams & Calvert-Lewin were sold.

Apparently Wilder has the same agent (unconfirmed just what I heard).

But with regards to Adams and DCL, do you feel we would have won the league by holding onto them? Not a fucking chance.

Question for you (and any others):

If you’d been told you could have £2m for transfers, however if you sold Brooks you could have £14m, what would you do?

I reckon CW is backing himself big time with this move.

Correct. See above. Adams and DCL were sold to aid the squad. We wouldn't have got promoted without their sales.

you do know that 'Sky Sources' are internet forums don't you ? They have a team searching forums every day especially for the clubs in the top two leagues.

Not true. When sky say their "sources", it means something is happening. They don't put their name to anything bollocks.

SUFC will always have a small club mentality as will half of our fans as proven with some of the comments on here

Every club in the world bar a couple of elite clubs are selling clubs. Barcelona lost one of their best in neymar to a "bigger fish". Man Utd, biggest club in the world?? Couldn't stop Ronaldo (or Beckham) leaving for Madrid.

This is the same agent as Che Adams of course! One thing I've always really liked about Brooks is that he is so level headed and football was always the most important thing to him it seems. Not saying that's changed but I don't personally think a move at this stage of his career to the Pl is a good move. Maybe he'll come back on loan or join another Championship team, hopefully the former not latter.

Again. He's probably going to the best of the bunch. Good club, good ambition, good style of play. And he'll get game time.

Ooh the first meltdown of the new campaign. Is everyone having fun?

I WAMNT £600MILLON POWNDS OR MCCABE CN FCK OFF MCBABE OUUUUUT

Quadruple like.

Small club and small club mentality isn’t the same.

Do you see Huddersfield, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Cardiff, or even fucking Wednesday offloading their best and most promising players? Maguire, Walker- it’s always the fucking same. And we wonder why we never succeed. Fucking pathetic as always. Same old United.

Well... considering that all but one of the clibs youve mentioned are premier league clubs its a little easier to hold onto your players. That said, if someone comes in for Zaha or Izquiedo or Neves etc. They'll be off.

And Wednesday?? Fack me. The best 2 players in Toulon last summer were Hurst and Brooks. We get £12m, the get 0p. Come back when the window has closed as to how many players they've lost.

Transfer kitty topped up by 2 mill, rest to cover loses, sell on fee next season when Bournemouth sell him for triple to cover part of next seasons loses.

Literally just read an article on Sky Sports transfer page about a team not allowing someone to leave. It happens all the time and there's a chance that the player will come round and enjoy it again where he is, if not, if they're good they'll still make a difference (Mahrez for example) and whilever they are under contract you can sell them in another window if they're being a dick behind the scenes.

Offer or to Mick Rooks Rooker with a bit of tape thrown in.

Looks like Wilders pal just confirmed it’s pretty much down to his new agent.

Think we all knew what was going to happen as soon as we heard that news.

Just didn't expect it to happen so soon.

I disagree to be honest. The way I see it, Wilder has constantly pushed a philosophy of 'team before individual'. This includes signings and, in my opinion, outgoings. If a player wants to leave, I think Wilder agreeing to sell is as much wanting to show confidence in his squad, as it is not wanting a player who isn't 100% committed. Brooks wasn't instrumental for us last season, and nobody knows for sure that he would have been next season.

If that’s true then I reckon that initial offer was before Wilders radio interview and that Brooks wanted to leave then. They turned the offer down and said “x is the price” then Wilder did the “stupid money” interview and now we are here.

Sorry to quote your post here but can’t find the one quoting twirlo -

The problem I have with twirlo’s comment is “cherries player may be coming”

“May”

Ha.

Sell him for 12m with a buy back option next year when we're in the prem ;)

This is what makes it so galling that he looks like he’s going on the cheap - Brooks isn’t a che Adams or a Calvert-Lewin, a half decent prospect, he’s drawn genuine comparison with TC, you’re bang on - anyone who can’t see how good he is does not know anything about football. Feeling disillusioned with blades with this news. Would be good for us to show a modicum of ambition just for once.

Genuine comparison to TC? Really? Is there a link to that? I'll take some grapes to the hospital.

I fully understand that Brooks may have had his head turned by his new agent and that this move will make him financially secure probably for life. It’s the way of the world in football but nobody was going anywhere without ‘silly money offers’ a few weeks ago.

This is what irks me, we seem (on the face of it) to have yet again succumbed with barely a fight. Surely we could have played hardball for a week or three and maybe got other clubs interested to force his price tag up? Look how the Southend chairman played us for months with a player who would be out of contact in months. Brooks has only recently signed a 4 year contract.

Some may say that £12m is a lot of money and of course it is in the real world outside football, but let’s not forget it was reported that we got £7m for Kyle Naughton as part of the Naughton/Walker deal. That was for a defender, not an attacking talent who’d also only had one season in the Championship. And lest we forget, it was NINE years ago, just how much have average Premier League transfer fees gone up since 2009?

It just seems to me like our annual post season ticket sale kick in the nuts. Will Wilder be able to reinvest it all? Has any United manager ever? It’ll be interesting to hear his views.

Once a players head is turned there is nothing you can do

When a team from the division above come calling there's nothing you can do

The manager will get a big chunk of the money to reinvest

BOLLOCKS

I'll just point this out, because nobody has yet...

Now we'll need to sign 3 forwards. Not just 2. And probably an attacking midfielder as well.

If we want quality, this extra few million Wilder might be given really won't go a very long way.
It will be spent on a clutch of upper First division / lower Championship level make weights like we got in the JTW. Same owd
