Did it many moons ago when flo still played for us, girlfriends daughter was 7 at the time she loved it cost about 150 smackeroonies then, got shown the dressing room etc etc as well as going on the pitch, girlfriend fell for flo though....:(
ohhhh well win some lose some....
shitwasp shit happens

Why do they only do it for kids eh? I'd like to be a mascot. I'm not bothered about holding the players hands though when I walk out, but I'd love to get that kit on and have a knock about on the pitch before the game. I think I'd run up to the kop and blow them kisses, TC style, and lap up their appreciation as they sing, "You fat bastard" and "Who ate all the pies?"

I think you've explained perfectly why adults are excluded...;)

Cost me £100 to be Captain Blade for the day. Not bad though as I got a signed Tacho from Keith Edwards.

Both by boys did it a few seasons back. It was a great day as you get to meet all the players in the dressing room, great legacy as photos taken with all of them, you get to see behind the scenes as they take you around the backrooms and you get to speak to some of the players whilst the mascots are having their pictures taken. It's a proud moment for the kids as they walk out with the team and this memory stays with them along with the photos of the day. My lads still have photos of themselves on their bedroom walls in frames of the day.

My little girl was mascot last season and she met all the players but the parents do not! Whilst the mascot group was in the changing room having photos with everyone, we had to sit in the South Stand; very disappointed!!

Same for us against Forest last season, the day we had the snow, bloody freezing! They should at least let parents in one of the bars. No shelter in SS concourse either with it being open both ends.

Shame, it was a few seasons ago we went, but we went into the managers office and had a photo with the manager. Kev McCabe was in there so we had a chat with him as well, we chatted with some of the players in the changing room went up to the press gantry so the lads could have a picture of themselves commentating, went into the press room, the trophy / exhibition room. The lads played on the pitch and had some photos of that. We then had to go to the South Stand and wait for them to come out with the players. It was a great day for them and us.

It would appear SelbyBlade got the better deal here!

I missed the first 20 minutes as the traffic was terrible, but was assured we had missed nothing. We had our photo taken in the dugout and on the edge of the pitch, went up to the press gantry but apart from that, practically the whole two hours was spent on the SS. The kids met the players, had loads of time on the pitch and obviously walking out with the team; a full kit voucher, signed ball, a medal, memory stick with loads of photos on, feature in the programme and on the big screen! Oh and two match tickets, all for £225!

The kit and match tickets alone would be over £100 so I don't think it's too bad cost wise when you break it down. I do think a bit more comfort for the parents wouldn't go amiss!

These kids today are very lucky.

In my day my birthday treat was a 1000 kick off up at Jordanthorpe for a match on the Astro pitch (Blades v pigs nb- at school a minority of friends were pigs, though I don’t see or know of any of em anymore, the Blades I still see at games) home for fizzy pop and a bake in a box packet cake and then down to Bramall Lane for the Junior Blades price of 50 pence to go stand on the Kop and watch Edwards score for fun,

Actually, I’d love to have a birthday party like that nowadays. The joy of standing on the Kop, the thrill of stepping out into Astro turf and being 8 stone lighter and stuffing loads of E numbers down my throat would be well worth the cash...

Blades Retro parties for 50year olds will it take off??

Are you one of these adult Blades who is stuck in child mode then, who adores and worships the players and would just love to meet with them? What would you say to them? "Heyup mate! Great goal the other week - can we have another sometime?"

I honestly can't think of anything more embarrasing or cringeworthy tbh. I think it's fantastic for the children to be a mascot and meet the players - but I find it very disturbing when grown adults have the same compulsion.

To be fair, to be able to see the look of joy/fear/excitement on the face of your child meeting the players and manager is what I think most parents would like to see. Especially when they shelled out to pay for the experience and get left on a windblown empty stand for quite a long time wondering if their loved one is having a good time, or has gone to pieces and pissed all over the changing room floor!

Maybe.

It's times like these I could kill McCabe. Why oh why oh why isn't there a high end 2 Michelin Star restaurant in the ground so Parents could go there whilst the nipper is busy mascotting.

My lad did it the promotion season when we got beat by fleetwood at home on a re-arranged midweek night. I know what some are saying as i was a bit gutted i couldnt see my lad interacting with the players in the changing rooms etc but thats obviously to stop certain types of parents/adults stepping out of line and the pile of photos they send out what are taken of your kid with every single player more than make up for it! If you get chance to do it for your kids its well worth the money as once you take out the cost of the kits/tickets etc its not that dear in my opinion!

I know other clubs do it via a draw on junior members and do it for free but you could be waiting for the oppertunity that will never come. Think united do it the best way!

I don’t think adults are excluded my dad was mascot for his 50th against Preston 12 years ago. He got to score a goal in front of the kop, although he made sure he was only 4 yards out. Apart from a few amusing “you fat bastard” chants it was great.

Ha! No I’m not. What I would like to do is shake the hands of Chris Wilder and Alan Knill, look them both in the eye and thank them for all their hard work and what they’ve achieved so far. I did hope to at least do that but obviously no joy! I’m 41 so not giddy about meeting the players, no offence to them of course!

Watching my little girl walk out onto the Bramall Lane pitch holding Billy Sharp’s hand, almost brought me to tears! It was all worth it just for that moment, the look on her face, priceless!
