Brooks will be sold and 70% of the transfer fee will be given to CW to invest in players

Thats the the first post I've read that's made me question whether we should keep him. I'm a huge Brooks fan, his potential is endless- he could be the next Giggs or Bale. On the other hand £12m, a huge sell on clause and Wilson would probably temp me far too much

1 word of warning though. Wages. While cashing in on a player who's currently just an impact sub makes sense if we can bring in 2 or 3 quality signings, wages would still be a massive hurdle.
At best the board would give us 10million of that 12 to reinvest. If you were to get my 2 top targets Wilson and Hogan they are both going to be on 20k a week minimum. So while losing Brooks might cover the transfer fees his 5 or 6 grand a week wages aren't going to make a dent in what a 5million quid striker would be on.

Callum Wilson!? I take it you're joking mate?!

He's still under contract for two more years and has recently demanded 60,000 a week to extend that deal. He scored 9 goals in 31 goals in the Premier League last season and has being tipped for an England call up in recent years before he got injured. I don't think he's on our radar mate unless we have a spare 25 million maybe more.

As an alternative, we're far more likely to be able to re-sign Dominic Calvert Lewin on loan.

Ok, maybe I'm a little out of date. He's just always been a player ive liked but valuation wise I hadn't a clue what he'd be worth. Nahki wells too... but I guess youre going to break it to me he's worth double Wilson, dead or has become a woman?

Anyway, just Hogan then (and even then I believe Villa paid around 10mil for him)

Sadly we missed the boat on Wilson and ironically Leon but we at least got Leon! Wells definitely more realistic as he's not pulling up any trees at Burnley but not sure he'd be a good option for the money we'd need to buy him or even a loan. He's being linked with West Brom apparently. I'd much rather we went for Marriot over someone like Wells as Wells is older, on big wages and has being crap for Burnley but I don't think we can afford Marriot either unless we sell Brooks - Peterborough apparently want 6.5m!

As a leftfield choice I like the look of Jamie MacLaren on loan at Hibs last season.

And no Wells is still a man as far as I'm aware!

Marriott did the same as Billy the season before and is 10 years younger, the way football is now I think he's worth it and personally I'd pay it.
£4.5 plus add ons I'd offer, don't forget we've just saved 2 and a half on a keeper ;)

I'm not so sure we were ever going to pay 2.5m though which is why we probably went for Henderson. I agree Marriot would be a decent signing in my view but he'll probably go to somewhere with big money such as a PL team and their parachute payments.

20 mill starting price. Get 3 or 4 good players in for that.

Anything less no thanks.
When we sold the 2xK's how many players did we buy with the money!
When we sold Harry how many players did we buy with the money
When we sold DCL how..........
When we got the Kyle walker windfall.........

CW has a budget, IMO it won't go up with sales of players, same old.

Would be interesting to know what Brooks himself wants to do. He’d double or triple his money and have a chance at first team football with Bournemouth.

If he wants to go I think the figure of £15m would be right.

Brooks has more chance of playing football with us in the championship than any team in the premiership.
From what he has said in the past he feels a need to play football to enable him to move forward. He feels valued at BDTBL, by the manager, the supporters and most of all by his fellow players. He has stated that at this moment in time money is not his motivational force and for all these reasons I can see him staying with us.
Next season may however be a different matter as it all depends on whether he sees this club taking him to the next step, I.e. premiership
Looking forward to next season

I think that CW sees young David as a striker.

I think what we will see is us hold on to DB allowing us to spend more on 1 more striker.

The strike force will be DB, Leon, Fat Lad + 1 more .... then possibly another unproven Lg1 or 2 striker.

We will keep DB for one more season IMO.

If he wants to go then he will go.

Wilder won't keep a player that doesn't want to be here. (Quite rightly in my book)

The fee will be whatevet we can get.

What the fans think he's worth is irrelevant.

As I've said elsewhere I think it's in his best interests to stay here for another season as Jagielka did before going on to play for England, but the ball is in his court and he holds all the aces.

I agree Maidenhead although I wonder how much influence his newly appointed agent will have at some point. To earn his increased % he'll either have to squeeze Utd for more or line-up a lucrative Prem move IMHO

Completely agree.

Again as I've said before he was dumped by Man City and my hope is that he will use that as a learning experience and stay with us so that he can play regularly for us to further his career, rather than warm a premiership bench hoping for an occasional kick.

I don't think he's a top level player yet but in my view he could be 12 months down the line if he has a good season with us.

I think he's a level headed lad so I think he will stay, but we will see.

That would be are best option IMO.

"Unless silly offers come in" is the key phrase there :( UTB

And since when was that an unrealistic point of view? No player is above the best interests of the club, and if it enables two or three genuinely talented incomers to make their mark and improve our overall standard then what's not to support?

Fortunately we have a manager whose assessment of a player is sound.

If no one comes in with a bid at or over over the average valuation expounded on here, what could it mean?

1. Club has greedily taken first offer in a greedy panic?

2. No one believes he's worth that much.

3. Undisclosed fee, so the agenda status Quo on here is maintained. McCabe will still be bleeding us dry or done a fantastic deal for the club

My gut feel is brooks will go - we all know the story with bids for our players. Hopefully we can resist or hold out for maximum value to get a huge bid.

I think he’s got all the talent on the world and would be gutted if he went as I think he could really step up with a full season for us. And we can’t buy the magic he can produce ...

But that said I’d say £15m comes in for him and it doubles our budget and allows us to add 2/3 good quality first time additions on top of what we wanted to or increases the overall quality of our targets. It might not be too bad or the end of the world after all we did well with brooks injured for a good chunk of last season.

Never said it was an unrealistic point of view, it is simple economics. That doesn't mean it would be nice to lose him though. UTB

This tells us nothing we don't already know.It all depends on the club's and Wilder's definition of silly money. If it's the same as Fulham's last season, I'll be very happy.
