Don't understand what people have against him. He virtually carries Portugal singlehandedly. He is incredibly dedicated to his profession and we are extremely lucky to be able to witness both him and Messi at the same time.

i remember seeing him as a scrawny teenage at man u, could turn players inside out but too light weight and too many step overs. He has turned into the perfect footballer, fast strong technically very good and and comes across as a decent human being, may come across as a prat, but not a twat.
i hope Brookes looks and sees,
and draws comparisons as to what dedication can add to raw talent - if he goes on to be 80% the player Ronaldo is he will be a £100m player in 5 years
or he could take the jack Wilshire road to wasted talent and twatism

Yes, most 'decent human beings' insist in having several statues of themselves and building a museum about themself.

Not a twat at all. Not even a little bit....

There was an article (could well have been on here) comparing Wayne Rooney & Cristiano Ronaldo. Rooney is about 8 months younger than Ronaldo. Both have made different decisions about how they would look after themselves and conduct their lives as footballers.

Tonight Rooney is contemplating a last pay day in America while Ronaldo is scoring a hat trick in the World Cup.

I suppose the beer swilling Rooney is put on a pedestal by many Englishmen as 'one of the lads'.

What a waste.

Bet pretty boy can't down a pint in one. :D

Not by me.

He's a twat too, just a different sort.

People like Gary Speed played into their late 30s. Rooney preferred the WAG look at me lifestyle. Oh, and granny prossies too.

Ronaldo is a full weight wanker but at least he has mastered his craft.

I honestly can't see many English fans praising Rooney and adoring him. Even the blue Scousers aren't convinced.

Not that he gives a shit what we think but I've seen that he does a lot for charity, seems brilliant with kids and supports and gives up a lot of his time to help people.
On the surface hes a prick who should be on love island but a few searches on Google might change your mind a bit.

I'll take you up on that.

It seems charidee begins at home as most of the stuff is about his record fine for tax fraud.

'One trick pony' was the standard moniker for him back then.

in the same way the standard moniker for fanny Jeffers was 'the next wayne Rooney"
were talking about the player Ronaldo is now, and tonight. And on his recent few years he is quality.

Dont forget the other one in the same game!

We’re one of a select few English clubs (relatively speaking), who got to see Ronaldo or Messi- the two standouts of a generation- play on our home ground. And on that day, they looked a right tit. Theres something gloriously Sheffield United about that.

Only the best players do what he does, consistently.

What he did tonight, when you sit back and watch it, was incredible.

Portugal only had 3 shots on goal, enter Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lets see what Messi comes up with, with better players around him than Ronaldo has for Portugal.

He did absolutely fuck all tonight and walked off with the match ball, and he does this weekly too it’s madness

Didnt realise this was a ronaldo thread. When i was on shoutbox. i thought WOW earlier. Couldnt praise him highly enough no denying it was free kick of the highest order on biggest stage under most intense pressure

Both quality players who can turn a game with individual brilliance. But i just cant get on with Ronaldo & its grown ever since he's played at real madrid, so its partly their fault. both a great players that want to win without doubt but Ronaldo is 1 of the most selfish sportsman in a team sport i have ever seen. He is a guy who craves & needs the limelight. If Euro 2016 didnt prove it, ive seen few R madrid games where bale has scored, but ronaldo didnt celebrate instead he sulked because he had auditacy to not pass to him

Whereas Messi will gladly assist likes of iniesta or suarez & let someone else be the star, take the glory. As long as Argentina or barca win the game. So for all his success i know who id rather have in my team. Because i want team players

On paper maybe, but this Argentina side is considered nothing special, Messi aside.

Does a lot of good stuff off the pitch. Is also a tax dodger, but who in Spanish football isn't?

Swans about the pitch like he owns the place. I think a big part of his problem is he has one of those faces you'd love to punch. Can't really say he hasn't earned the right to be a little arrogant.

If it weren't for Messi then there wouldn't even be a debate over the best footballer ever.
